For me the VW Golf R is a pretty solid and powerful commuter considering the segment it belongs to but there are a few who beg to differ. For them, Abt Sportsline has introduced a powerful version of the Golf R which manages to hit the 266 hp mark courtesy of a 2.0L TSI engine under normal circumstances. The Abt magic helps the Golf R achieve 306 hp and the additional pony count helps the car dash from to 100km/h in an impressive 5.2 seconds with an overall top-speed of 261/km/h. The Abt Golf VI GTI influence can also be seen on the Abt Golf R with similar front skirting, front lip spoiler and Abt daytime running lights.

The Germans from Volkswagen have unleashed their latest set of wheels— Golf GTD. This is without a doubt a car that will appeal immensely to those looking for the Volks GTI style clubbed with the economy and efficiency of a diesel engine inside. Shedding some of the speed of the GTI, the GTD is powered by a 2.0-liter, 170 hp turbo diesel engine with 258 lb-ft of torque and a fuel economy rating of 44 mpg. Racing from 0 to 62 mph in a leisurely 8.1 seconds, this is more about saving cash rather than chasing criminals. With a 6-speed manual gearbox, an optional 6-speed DSG, posh interiors styled in black and white and low carbon emissions, the GTI will appeal to the daily city commuter who looks for efficiency, economy and ergonomic design that fits into smaller parking spaces.
Ladies and gents we have what everyone has been looking for lately. The new Volkswagen Golf VI photos which leaked out just a couple of days ahead of the official media release. Public debut is set for October at the Parisian motor show but meanwhile let’s see what changed.

After spending too much money on building Golf V which had a great interior, good performances but an unimpressive exterior, with a long production time and high costs, the company is now trying to sell the new model (Golf 6) like hot bread. Based on the current MK V platform, with an exterior by Walter de Silva, somewhat sexier and with a more aggressive stance, the new Golf VI will have three and five door versions, a cabriolet (nothing certain yet) and of course the GTI.

The big news include the 1.6-liter TFSI engine that develops some 200 hp, 1.0-liter or 1.2-liter engines that develop 75 hp, and the twin-drive plug-in hybrid model. If you’re in for the GTI it should sport 230 hp while the R32 is going to expose nothing less than 265 hp.

What do you guys think?
