If you could be a test driver for one of the top super car companies in the world, would you do it? Of course you would. And so would many other auto fanatics across the globe.
Unfortunately, that position is reserved for one person – a man you might call the luckiest man on Earth.
Davide Testi is Pagani’s number one test driver and gets to drive around in all of the Pagani glory long before we could ever get our hands on one. In this interview with the Drive Channel he tells us what its like to be the official Pagani test driver and how he got the job that so many lusted after and that so many are envious of – including ourselves.
Check it out below – this guy can seriously count his lucky stars!
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to be able to build your very own dream car? Of course, you wouldn’t have to pay and exorbitant price and you have complete creative control of the design of your baby. However, it does sound difficult and where would you even start?!
Well, one Lithuanian man didn’t let these reservations stand in his way. He simply had a vision of his dream car and decided to build it himself – and in what a clever way he did!
To start with, the man simply had the battered and bruised shell of a Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class. Note, it is only the shell. There was absolutely nothing in the inside of the piece of metal.
He then decided to use the shell of the Mercedes as a platform to build his very own, unique, dream car. He had a design in mind and simply went for it… (more…)
The van. It’s not a sexy automobile, nor has it been hailed as the greatest invention in history. It’s practical, and boxy and sometimes really uncool – remember when your uncle used to show off what his kombi can do? Yeah.
however, what we don’t know (or rarely think of) of the van, is how to came into existence and what a important influence it had on pop culture, the automotive industry and various other industries in the world.
Just think, if no one had invented the van, how would you get your mail delivered or where would you store your equipment?
Well, in case you didn’t know, Mercedes-Benz invented the van – although they were two separate companies at the time and the creation of the van was really all thanks to a stiff competition between the two. And now, the German automaker wants to show us the long (and surprisingly interesting) history of the van. (more…)
A few weeks ago we reported on the world’s first 3D printed car that made its debut at the International Manufacturing Technology Show. But besides making its debut at the show, it was also built there – live, in real-time in front of a live audience.
In all, the car took 6 days to complete. From being printed to assembled, the car was now ready to take on the road.
It is called the Strati, and was developed by a company called Local Motors. And while it is rather peculiar looking, it is still pretty amazing considering that its was printed – and that only in 6 days.
To show of their creation (and also draw a ton of media attention) Local Motors decided to bring the car to New York City, where it could be flaunted and shown off for the world to see, and also take its first steps, or rather drive. (more…)
Lamborghini’s latest creation, the electric hybrid Asterion, is sure grabbing attention lately.
After the car was unveiled for the first time at the Paris Auto Show last week, the media and car lovers alike have been going crazy for the half petrol half electric super car – the first of it’s kind for the Italian automaker.
Lamborghini’s first electric hybrid is basically the stuff dreams are made of. It’s beautiful, powerful and half electric – nowadays, thats pretty much everything you want form a car. Oh and let’s not forget the fact that the car can produce a combined 910 horsepower. Fancy.
However, the Asterion is just a concept (insert sad face here). Lamborghini has said that there are no plans to actually manufacture the car for the market – making the Asterion even more special as it is a once-off. (more…)
The Paris Motor Show has officially kicked off and this morning saw the unveiling of one of the most anticipated hybrid cars of the show - the all new Lamborghini Asterion hybrid.
This is the Italian automakers first ever hybrid car, so naturally they went al out with it. From design to production, this car truly is a stunner. And we’re not just talking about how it looks.
Although its looks is definitely worth a mention. This car is truly breathtakingly beautiful. In typical Lamborghini design style, the Asterion glistens under the lights on stage at the Paris Motor Show.
The blue colour is also a perfect colour for this car. It’s eye catching and dramatic without being too overbearing. (more…)
So, what would you do if you are the happy, proud and no doubt protective owner of an all new McLaren P1? You would want to protect it so it stays in its prestine condition for the rest of eternity, am I right?
Well, that is what Jay Leno – former talk show host and swoon worthy car collector – did immediately when he got his McLaren P1 (because obviously Jay Leno owns a brand new McLaren P1…)
Jealousy aside, Jay invite chis viewers of his popular YouTube channel, Jay Leno’s Garage, to come with and witness as his latest addition to his ever growing car collection gets wrapped in a protective coating that will keep it looking spiff and spam for years to come – perhaps not for the rest of eternity, but, close enough. There is absolutely no doubt about the fact that 3D printing is taking over the world. It is one of the most revolutionary inventions of our time and has captured the attention and imagination of many across the globe.
Just the thought of physically and quickly being able to print a three dimensional object in the comfort of your home (if you so wish) is rather intriguing.
That’s why so many people have started experimenting with 3D printing and seeing how far they can push the boundaries with this new technology. One such company that wasn’t afraid of taking things to the next level, is a company called Local Motors. In fact, they dreamt so big, that actually 3D printed a car. For reals.
I mean, we have seen some pretty out there thing seeing printed in 3D – from prosthetic limbs to weapons and guns (that actually work) – there seems to be no end to the imagination of those capable of 3D printing.
Local Motors, however, is the first company we’ve heard of that actually decided to print a full size, drivable car. (more…)
