Aston Martin has confirmed that they will launch the Cygnet, based on Toyota’s iQ. Te car will be Aston Martin’s response to the fuel economy and emissions standards that are being set now – and will come out in 2011. This will be an offering that will not compromise on its performance, but will satisfy the new demands of space and emissions.

Word is that Toyota plans to bring their mini-car — the Scion IQ, in the United States in a couple of years, more precisely early 2011. Although details are about the tiny IQ are scarce, what we know is that the car will be lowered by 1.5-inches (from the previewed version that debuted at the New York Auto Show earlier this year) and should come with a redesigned interior. As for what makes the wheels spin, it will probably be Toyota’s 67hp 1.0-liter petrol engine or the recently introduced 1.33-liter dual VVT-i with 98 horsies and 125 Nm of torque. Toyota is very active in the small segment and things are going to stay that way. The company just announced that the new Toyota iQ is going to be revealed during Geneva Motor Show next month. It’s about 3 meters long, big enough for three adults and some luggage and very safe (they say). Toyota will also bring the Urban Cruiser to make its European debut.
