Perana Z-One Supercar by Zagato

Published by on Feb 24th, 2009, 1 Comment

The Italians from Zagato teamed up with the South Africans from Perana, and the result is that contepmorary shaped supercar. Looking like a Ferrari crashed with a Maserati Grand Turismo, the new Perana Z-One is powered by a Corvette 6.2L LS3 V8 engine that outputs 440hp and goes 0 to 100km/h in less than four seconds. The sexy coupe – which we think would be perfect to take Batman on his missions, sould be available in a 999 limited edition for an undisclosed price that is rumored to be ranging from $63k to $115k. We’ll update as soon as we know more, because word is that it should be present at Geneva in a few days. [via Autoblog]

The Fastest And Most Powerful Bentley, a Biofuel Supercar

Published by on Jan 28th, 2009, 1 Comment

The upcoming Auto Show in Geneva will be host to amazing surprises and Bentley is one of those trying to get us excited. They’ve been silently working on a luxurious Biofuel Supercar, the marque’s fastest, most powerful production car yet. Based on the 600HP Continental GT Speed, rumors have it that under the hood there’s an ethanol-guzzler version of a twin-turbo W12 engine with an increased mileage and less emissions. Visually we can’t see more changes than the pair of vents on hood, the sizable vertical intakes or the blacked out grille. Aggressive like a feline … isn’t it? [via Autoblog]

Splinter, The Wooden Supercar

Published by on Jan 6th, 2009, No Comments

There is something about supercars that make us love them. Be it the sporty shapes or the fact that they have a lot of horses under the hood, we’d simply love to own or at least drive one of these things.

But when the whole supercar is made of wood, you definitely have to consider it. Looking a lot like a Lambo, the Splinter is the work of Joe Harmon – a North Carolina State University student. Weighing a good 2500 lbs, with a twin supercharged, 4.6litre V8 engine that outputs some 600 hp and amazing shapes, it sure looks like a collector’s item. Though we hope he builds it, we definitely have to think what happens if it rains or if you bump into something. Is it safe?

Hennessey Venom GT – Still a Concept

Hennessey Venom GT Concept

Now I’m having a dilemma. I don’t know if I should choose a Bugatti Veyron or this beautiful Hennessey Venom GT which still a project to be released in 2009. Not that I would have the money to pay for it but it’s just that I can’t decide which is better. The Venom GT is powered by a Dodge Viper V10 8.4-liter engine that can sport 1,000 hp, allows you to choose from a manual six-speed gearbox or a sequential transmission and only weighs 1,225kg. Math is really easy this time, with a 1.225kg/hp ratio and that’s great.

If you need to see how fast this baby is going to be how does 2.5 seconds for to reach 100km/h? How about 14seconds for 300km/h? Would that impress your “co-pilot”? You’ll have to agree with me, if this is how it’s going to look Bugatti Veyron has a very good competitor.
