The company also made it clear that they want to launch two more models, namely, a sports coupe and a sedan. These models, according to the manufacturer, will be released later. The company plans to produce 3,000 units of the sedan and 2,000 units of that of the coupe model per year.

Well, in case of the SLS, production is set to begin in 2011 itself, producing 3000 units per year. It has been learnt that the cars will be built at De Tomaso Automobili SpA plant, a former Pininfarina factory near Turin and in the Livorno factory.

The low silhouette and narrow C-pillar in classic three-box design exudes contemporary styling. Short front overhang, long hood, steeply raked windshield and long, sloping roof all are typical of a coupe.

While the wedge-shaped, sloping beltline is inherited from the C-Class sedan, its ascending merge into the C-pillar is entirely exclusive. This part of the beltline trim meets the roofline trim and not only adds an aggressive touch to the side windows but also enhances the powerful shoulders. The radiator grille has chrome double-Louvre style with the star in the middle.

There are clear lens headlamps and daytime running LED’s at the front. In the rear the tail lights are placed at maximum distance apart to show width and centrally mounted LED indicator signifies depth.

The interior of the car features three tube rings in metallic finish, flat bottomed three spoke steering wheel with shift paddles and a 5.8 inch center console. The car is a proper four seater, with backrests in the rear reclining for extra storage.

Features include Bluetooth streaming, SIRIUS weather forecast, special Google destination search. The optional COMAND navigation system also has a new 3D display with city views.

The engine options for the C-class coupe are a 1.8 L four-cylinder engine developing 201 hp, 229 lb-ft of torque @ 4300 rpm with 0-60 mph coming in 7.1 s and a top speed of 130 mph, and a 3.5 L V6 engine producing 302 hp, 273 lb-ft @ 5250 rpm, 0-60 mph in 5.9 s and 130 mph top speed.

Both these engines are said to return a combined fuel economy of 24 and 22 mpg. Both these power plants get a seven speed automatic transmission.

This proposed sedan features an extruded aluminum chassis and a carbon fiber body. The vehicle’s interior, suspension system, crush zones and engine can be removed and replaced rapidly, states the manufacturer.

But no details regarding the engine incorporated have been revealed. But the car reportedly uses a mid-mounted 1.8-liter four-cylinder Honda engine and a five-speed automatic.

It is supposed to allow the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 5.5 seconds and achieve a top speed of 149 mph (240 km/h), and return 114 mpg highway.

It is likely that if one pre-orders the model for $28, 800, in its kit form, they will be fortunate to get it at $20,000 by the time the mass production begins.(Via WCF)

Tailor made exclusively for the Chinese car mart, the 5-door Verna will hit dealerships early January. The new model follows close on the heels of the earlier 4-door variant that debuted during August last.

To be driven by two petrol engines, the car will be built at a plant in Beijing. While the 1.4 liter Gamma engine would provide a total of 108 PS (79 kW) and 135 Nm of torque, the 1.6 liter Gamma engine will return 124 PS (90 kW) and 155 Nm of torque.

The Ghangzhou Motor Show will also have yet another model from the Hyundai stables, in the form of the mid-size Sonata sedan.

Powered by the new large 6.2 liter LS3 engine that offers 431 PS (425 bhp / 317 kW) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque, the VXR8 boasts of capabilities that puts into play either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox. The car accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and drives at a top speed of 155 mph.

UK customers can pick their model at 6 select Vauxhall dealers for prices starting at £49,500.

Vauxhall  has thrown in many a unique feature and they include a suspension set-up with MacPherson struts, Magnetic Ride Control (MRC), a launch control function for stability and a Shockwave grille.

The car sports LED at the front, and has a rear spoiler, LED tail lights and dual exhaust. An EDI system incorporated offers an on-board computer that will display performance data on the 5-inch monitor provided.

Word is that the auto company plans to unveil a sporty new concept that is sure to capture the attention of the auto world. Although absolutely no details have been revealed, it does appear that the vehicle will be a supercar, something along the lines of the Citroen GT.

Initial reports say that the styling highlights look like scissor or gullwing doors have been used, that the units have jewel-like lighting and the bodywork is aerodynamic.

Apart from this mysterious supercar, Peugeot will also be displaying the 508 sedan and estate at the show. The weeks leading up to the show are sure to have more information coming out, so those curious to unmask the mystery car will have to keep their eyes peeled.

With its attractive sweeping coupe roofline and short overhangs at both the front and rear, the new Cruze hatchback has the same dynamic ‘stance’ as the sedan. It is built using the new body-frame integral system (BFI) which is complemented by the final tuning to chassis components.

The BFI system provides greater stability. The car comes with a cargo capacity of nearly 400 liters and will feature 60/40 split rear seating.

The car is planned to be launched across Europe in mid-September and soon after will be seen on other markets as well. The prices will be announced a few days before the launch.  More pictures below:

The car comes with redesigned bumpers, grille, hood and headlights. It will be powered by Hyundai’s new 1.6-liter or 1.4-liter Gamma petrol engines.

By replacing the old Alpha engine with Gamma, the sedan promises more power and torque, as well as best-in-class fuel economy. The estimated power and torque of 1.6 Gamma are respectively 124 PS and 156 Nm, while those of 1.4 Gamma are 107 PS and 135 Nm.

The battery pack allows the car to travel up to 50 miles before a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine kicks in to recharge it. The car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in approximately six seconds, and has a top speed of 201 km/h (125 mph). It has an estimated combined fuel consumption rating of 2L/100km (117.6 mpg US).

The Karma, a four-door, four-seat luxury sports sedan, was unveiled at the Detroit auto show in January last year. It was scheduled to go on sale last year, but the sale was delayed for unspecified reasons. We can expect the car to be launched in 2011. The promotional video is here for you to see.

For those who love the current Polo, but want their ride to be a bit larger, we’re hearing that 2012 Volkswagen Polo sedan (also known as the new VW Vento) is in the works — and we managed to get our hands on a design sketch for you. Basically a Polo with a trunk instead of a hatch, the Volkswagen Polo sedan has a 50mm longer wheelbase, and as expected, much more legroom in the rear seat. While yet to be confirmed, word is that the Polo sedan will run on a 1.2-liter TSI, a 1.6-liter TDI, and naturally-aspirated 1.2- and 1.4-liter units. The nice surprise is that other than the five and six-speed manual transmission, there’s also a seven speed DSG to play with. Availability in India is set for sometime in July.
