The Hyundai Veloster would be making its debut in January at the Detroit Auto Show. Hyundai’s Veloster is a compact sports model that is reportedly putting itself in the some market as Volkswagen’s Scirocco. Based on information received, the car will be powered by a 1.6 liter, direct-injection gasoline/petrol engine producing 122 PS (90 kW/121 hp) and 155 Nm (114 lb-ft) of torque.

Definitely in love with spy shots and videos, our friends from WCF managed to get their hands on a set of pictures with the new VW Scirocco R20 somewhere close to Nürburgring. With a new front bumper, the two-doors coupe is probably going to feature a rumoured 200kW (272hp) engine (same one from the Golf R20). With meaner looks and breathing aggressiveness from every little joint, the sportier new Scirocco R20 would definitely be a good buy in case the price manages to touch planet Earth somehow.

Pretty aggressive and powerful, VW Scirocco just got a small facelift and some power tweaking from Siegen-based tuner B&B. Available for the 2.0-liter TFSI engine, the package features 6 stages of power ranging from 998 EUR for the 235hp and 340 Nm tweak, up to 350hp and 450Nm of torque. And if you’re asking what’s under the hood for the top of the line version, the folks from B&B added a a bigger turbo loader, an optimized crank shaft, forged pistons, and modified cylinder heads. So it’s all hard-work not just chips. That’s a mean Scirocco if you ask me … [via WCF]

The famous German tuners Rieger are at it once again with the Scirocco, bringing back memories of the past attached with Rieger Scirocco GTO widebody. The new Rieger Scirocco is all set to be officially unwrapped at Essen 2008 and the initial look at the cars shows some really hot new changes to the Scirocco. Rieger has created a couple different front and rear bumper designs for the Scirocco, each one aimed at customers with varied tastes and choices. There are also varied options available for side skirts, roof spoiler, quad pipe muffler, lowering springs and 3 styles of 19- and 20-inch wheels. Expect the Rieger Scirocco to steal the show once it sets its wheels on ramp. Looks aggressive. – via autoblog.nl
VW you’re killing us. Not only the new Scirocco “rulz” when it comes to design, but now the German tuner MTM wants to add some muscles under the hood, too. They’re going to release their own Scirocco R version, that will include a 2.0 liter TFSI engine that sports 272 hp (from 200hp) and to those who’d be interested in some chip tuning, it will sport 380 hp. Now that’s what I call power increase ….

Other than the engine Viagra, these guys have also prepared a bunch of MTM bimoto 20″ rims with Michelin Pilot Sport tires, new front and rear shocks, and some optional VA 380 x 34 mm brakes or the MTM Clubsport suspension rings. The new Scirocco R from MTM is going to be base priced at 31,160 euros ($40,140). Like the way it went out?

After many updates to what the company already had, many consider the new Volkswagen Scirocco as one of the best models after a very long period of time. And they may be right. While we’re waiting for it to hit showrooms the only joy we can still have is seeing the race-version Scirocco running at Nurburgring and the lucky guy is factory driver Dieter Depping.

“The new Scirocco was in its element from its very first lap around the Nordschleife. The car also ran perfectly on this unique and difficult track. Now it’s a just a question of preparing the three Scirocco perfectly for the race. After all, the 24-hours is a merciless test for man and machine” said Volkswagen Motorsport Director Kris Nissen.
It looks mean in blue, don’t you think?

More details are popping out about the new Volkswagen Scirocco - the lightweight sport car – that we will get to see during the International Motor Show in Geneva. It uses a 1.4-liter TSI engine that develops 122 hp while there is a TDI version, too, works on a seven-speed DSG transmission automatic and semi-automatic. ESP is a standard on VW Scirocco.
About the interior there are not many details other than some “body-hugging sport seats” or a panoramic roof to watch the sky. We’ll know more next month.
