For those who loved the Scion xB, here is some good news for those admirers as a new xB based urban utility vehicle has been announced for the Australian market. The xB was a commuter that could be modified as per the individual tastes and the Rukus will look to do the same in Australia. It will be a car with great standard features but Toyota still expects the buyers to come up with their own Individual needs to which the automaker intends to oblige thoroughly.

The Rukus will come laden with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine which will render 158hp with 162lb-ft of torque. It is clear that Toyota is aiming the urban families who look for comfort more than a powerful engine. As it is, Toyota is ready to respond to individual needs and there are potential customers who have already demanded their own style of car in the Rukus.

Word is that Toyota plans to bring their mini-car — the Scion IQ, in the United States in a couple of years, more precisely early 2011. Although details are about the tiny IQ are scarce, what we know is that the car will be lowered by 1.5-inches (from the previewed version that debuted at the New York Auto Show earlier this year) and should come with a redesigned interior. As for what makes the wheels spin, it will probably be Toyota’s 67hp 1.0-liter petrol engine or the recently introduced 1.33-liter dual VVT-i with 98 horsies and 125 Nm of torque. Scion have announced that their xD Release Series 2.0 is going to be more affordable at $15,920. Only $1,270 more expensive than the xD Release Series 1.0, the new version is going to feature a touch screen Pioneer Audio Visual Navigation (AVN) system (with flash memory and USB slots, SD card slot and iPod connectivity), voice recognition, and Bluetooth connectivity. With only 1,600 units to be built, Toyota seems to have done a great job with the tech package on the new Scion xD Release Series 2.0. Doesn’t look bad at all, eh? [via AutoBlog]

There’s a new car in the Formula Drift Championship. It’s a Scion that was customized by RS*R the company in charge with manufacturing exhaust and suspensions. The Scrion RS*R tC is based on a front-wheel-drive tC Sports Coupe but was changed and thanks to a longitudinal engine it now sends power directly to the rear wheels.
The engine is going to be powerful using a set of neat features, a 3SGE Beams motor, HKS GT3037 turbo and intercooler, Blitz Dual SBC boost controller and AEM EMS engine management system. All in all the new Scion RS*R tC is going to sport 400 hp.
Jack Hollis, Scion VP said “Scion has participated in motorsports for three years and the fan support has been incredible. Drifting is an exciting, emerging motorsport with a dedicated and intense fan base. We think the fans will be just as excited as we are about our RS*R Scion tC as it demonstrates one of Scion’s primary philosophies, customization.”
By the way, we have the info that will make you drift like a God.
