The Renault Megane Estate Sport Tourer has enough engine size variations that everyone on a football team plus three girls on the sidelines cheering could drive a different sized engine – 14 in all! A 1.5l diesel dCi engine with 85-110 horses, all of which produce less than 130g CO2 per 100km and use between 4.4 and 4.8 liters of fuel in the process. That’s enough options to keep the treehuggers happy for a spell.
For those who don’t care about the environment, a 1.9 liter version with 130hp and 300Nm of torque is available. The boost comes from a curved blade turbocharger.
More? There are 150 and 160 hp, 2.0 liter versions as well as a 2.0 TCe, 180 hp, 300 Nm with twin-scroll turbo.
The driver and all passengers have each access thanks to headroom of 890mm. Legroom and elbow room galore, not to mention enough room to haul all that football team’s gear. Luggage space is 524 liters with rear seats up, and a whopping 1,595 liters with them down.

Trying to be ahead of any other hatches in the European market is no easy task, but Renault seems to have the right ingredients for an amazing car. Just a few days ago in Geneva, the latest Renault Megane RS has been unveiled to the public and everyone seemed to love it. Inspired by the Trophy racer Megane, the new RS is definitely meaner and faster. With an agressive front grille splitter and big arches, a center-exit exhaust within the diffuser, bulging side sills and some intriguing two-tone alloys, you’ll have to admit that even if it’s a French car … it’s a damn good looking one.
But my bet is that you’d like to know what makes that kitty roar. Well there’s a 250-horsepower 2.0-liter 16-valve turbo engine under the hood, a sharper chassis available in “Sport” and “Cup”, fully defeatable stability control and an improved steering, it’s quite a contender to Ford’s Focus RS. We’re definitely sold on the new design. A hot looking racer … [via TopGear]

Though it’s just a teaser for now, rumors have it that the new Renault Megane RS will make it to Geneva next month. And the French like to keep us craving. They even launched a dedicated website that will count down the time till it reaches Switzerland. Inspired from the Megane Coupe Trophy, the hot hatch is a beefed up concept that features a contoured hood, bulbous fenders and headlamps. With a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine under the hood (from the Megane R26) that outputs 250 hp and goes naught to 60mph in around 6 seconds, some Brembo brakes, a limited-slip differential and a revised power steering system, we can bet our paychecks it’s going to be a hot seller. The first pictures of Renault Megane R26 R have surfaced although we were not meant to see them yet, but British site Autocar got a few low-res images. Rumors say this sporty is scheduled to be unveiled at the London Motor Show next month. That’s definitely the one I’d be looking to see.
Considered the most extreme ever built, Megane R26 R is close to a track car, but legal. Under the hood you’ll probably get the 230hp 2.0 turbo engine and the limited slip differential while the biggest advantage is that it’s much lighter. Carbon fiber hood, polycarbonate windows and other small changes resulted in 125 kg less than the R26.
It should hit 60mph in only 6 seconds and the price should be close to £24,000. Isn’t that expensive? I think it is!

These are supposed to be the first photos of the new Renault Megane III. They are artist renderings and from what I see Megan III it’s based on the concept we’ve seen before, Renault Altica and changes the hatchback rear to something that involves curves this time.

My sources told me that Megan III will please a lot of people out there, because it will come as a sedan, hatchback, coupe, convertible, station wagon and even a crossover version. All these will be in three and five doors. Obviously, the main competition are Peugeot 308, VW Gold VI (not yet released) and the Fiat Bravo.
I don’t have a release date but Paris Motor Show in 2008 sounds like a good one.
