Audi has announced its new plans with regard to the United States market place. The auto maker giant plans to launch diesel models of A6, A8, and Q5. As you already know, TDI engine variants of A3 and Q7 are now available. The new move will add on to this line up. However, the company has no plans to offer a diesel version of A4. But the redesigned model of the same is released in the year 2014 or 2015.

Two more days for till the 28th Wörthersee Tour in Austria closes doors. One of the most stunning four wheelers that take part at the show is this custom concept Audi Q5. With an eye for detail, the custom Q5 is covered with a special Daytona Gray painting and features a bunch of stylish red highlights on the rims, the roof rails, the front skirt and the rear spoiler. Running on the same supercharged 3.0 TFSI V6 that powers the S4 but now outputting 408hp the hunchbak monster flies to 100km/h in 4.4 seconds on its way to an electronically limited 250km/h. A beautiful design exercise that makes it stand out from the crowd, we can’t help but wonder if we’ll ever afford one. Looks simply stunning.

Tweaking under the hood: Abt Q5 receives a power boost with the latest upgrade

Published by on Mar 31st, 2009, No Comments

Introduced in Essen, the Abt Q5 is already receiving plenty of upgrade options. But the latest version comes from German tuners Abt Sportsline, who initially revved up its 2.0-liter TFSI from 211 hp to 240 hp and now claim that there is also a 275 hp option waiting in line! Apart from that, there is also the option of a 3.0-liter TDI available with up to 310 hp or a 2.0-liter TDI engine with 190 hp. As far as the remainder of the tuner kit goes, you get an almost complete overhaul in the form of a custom built muffler, new rear wing and apron, larger front grill, new front spoiler, large fender extensions, and door trims. With added power options and air-suspension kit available, the Abt Q5 seems to have just gotten all the more exciting.

Audi Q5 – Prices For The US Market Emerge

Published by on Feb 9th, 2009, No Comments

Scheduled to be available in the US dealerships starting next week, we managed to find out how much the new Audi Q5 will cost. And although it’s only for the US market, we can definitely get the idea … The base model will start from $37,200 (plus $825 destination/delivery/tax), the Premium Plus starts at $41,500 while the Prestige goes up sky from $48,200. Based on the A4 platform, Q5 is a long-wheelbase crossover vehicle that plans to take on BMW’s X3. It has an 18 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway, so you better be saving some money if that suits you. We’d definitely want to get behind the wheel for a bit.

Audi Q5 S Line version

Audi Q5 S Line

Just a couple of weeks after announcing the Audi Q5, the Germans have already came up with the S Line version that includes both interior and exterior changes.

On the outside 19-inch or 20-inch alloy wheels are available, a new front grille and new front air vents near the fog lights. These are the main changes that should make the Audi Q5 S Line a much more aggressive SUV. Getting inside it comes with a three-spoke steering wheel wrapped in perforated leather and with all sorts of functions and special Nappa or Alcantra seats with “S Line” embroidered on them.

No modifications have been announced for the engines. Too bad, because S Line means faster for most of us and I don’t think this one will be faster than the original Audi Q5. It just looks like it could be faster.

Audi Q5

The new Audi Q5 made its world debut, where do you think? At the Beijing Motor Show.

I’m sure Audi knows who they are going to fight with, in the compact crossover niche, because BMW already has the X3 live, Mercedes-Benz have just announced the GLK and Volvo seems pretty active, too. Their ace up the sleeve is the sportier (elegant) looks, or at least the Germans think so.

Beautiful headlights with bi-xenon lamps and LED daytime running lights, a large single-frame grille or those big wheels are extremely eye-catching when you take a look at the picture. I wouldn’t expect anything cheaper on the rear: taillights with LED technology or the aluminum wraparound tailgate.

The engine palette is also nice. Three choices that include two diesel versions and a petrol engine, all turbocharged:

  • 2.0 TFSI that outputs 211 hp and 350 Nm torque.
It does o to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds and has a top speed of 222 km/h. Fuel consumption is 8.5L for 100 km.
  • 2.0 TDI that outputs 170 hp and 350 Nm torque.
It does o to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds and has a top speed of 204 km/h. Fuel consumption is 6.7L for 100 km.
  • 3.0 TDI V6 engine that outputs 240 hp and 500 Nm torque.
It does o to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds and has a top speed of 225 km/h. Fuel consumption is 7.7L for 100 km.

I really like what I see. Waiting for prices now !

Audi Q5 Going to Beijing

Published by on Mar 17th, 2008, No Comments

Audi Q5

Last month there was quite some buzz with the new Audi Q5, the baby-SUV that was rumored to show off during the International Motor Show in Geneva. This wasn’t the case though and now AutoWeek is speculating that the new Q5 is going to be unveiled next month during the Beijing Motor Show. The engine is vertically aligned, outputs up to 405 lb-ft of torque and 8,500 rpm  and is going to use Audi’s new seven-speed DSG/S-Tronic. The same rumors say that there will be both Quattro models and front-wheel-drive versions.

Audi Q5 Unveiled : First Pictures

Audi Q5 AutoBild baby-SUV

The Germans from AutoBild published the first pictures of what we’re expecting to be the new Audi Q5. These may not be official pictures but it’s still something to keep us boiling over here. As expected the new Q5 borrows the same front and side design from bigger brother (or is it sister) Q7, while the rear has something to do with the Cross Cabriolet model we’ve seen.

The new baby-SUV, Audi Q5 is going to be live in Geneva next month. We’ll see it then.
