Porsche 911 GT3, First Public Show

Note: With Geneva in full swing, this week we will be really focused on putting up the most interesting models on show.

All wrapped in a glossy red, the new Porsche 911 GT3 made it’s public debut at the Auto Show in Geneva. And it really managed to get our full attention. With power coming from a naturally-aspirated 3.8 liters flat-six engine that outputs 435 hp and 317 ft-lbs of torque, and a top speed of 194 mph, the track performance car is packed with technology. That includes the Porsche’s Active Stability Management (PASM) system, stability and traction control or a set of ceramic-composite brakes. As for styling, the new 911 GT3 features some new bi-xenon bulbs in the front, stylish LED taillights in the back, a restyled rear spoiler or larger air intakes with mesh skins. Going on sale later this year, that beast is going to be expensive. [via WCF]

2010 Porsche 911 GT3: Images & Video

We can’t be sure if the new 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 will be showcased in the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, but seeing it on the streets is just as good. Expected to see the light in Geneva at the International Auto Show in March, the newest addition to the 911 family features new bumper with a lower spoiler, larger air intakes with mesh inserts, and modified bi-xenon headlights. With a 3.8-liter beast under the hood that outputs 435 horsepower and 317 ft-lbs of torque, Porsce 911 GT3 goes from naught to 60mph in just 4.0 seconds and tops at 194 mph. As for the price (base price that is), in US it goes up from $112,200 (no taxes included) while in Europe (Germany) it goes for some €116,000 (tax included). Dang it looks powerful in that hot red.  Check out the video and the gallery with the new Porsche 911 GT3.

9FF GT9 almost breaks world speed record : 409 km/h

9ff GT9

The current world record speed for the fastest production car was set by the SSC Ultimate Aero that topped at 255.83 mph which is 411.71 km/h. Recently the 9FF engineers tried to beat that with their modified GT9 but couldn’t do it. They only managed to make it run at 409 km/h at a track in Papenburg on 10th April.

9FF’s GT9 was based on the Porsche 911 GT3, but lower and longer. The interesting part is that the car has the engine in the middle (not the rear) for better weight distribution. Now that I mentioned the engine, the beast outputs 987 bhp from a 4L flax six twin turbo and a six-speed transmission.
Though they couldn’t beat the world record, 9FF guys can stand proud because they managed to take on the Bugatti Veyron which topped at 407 km/h. The GT9 however, is not as fast as the Veyron : 0 – 60 mph in 4.2 seconds.
