You have just taken ownership of your new 225kW BMW 335i. At the traffic lights a normal Mazda 6 MPS pulls up next to you. The petrol head that you are, you know every cars’ power output like you know your two times table. From the last car magazine you read you know this car pushes out 191Kw. You have a whole 34kW more so you figure out that you could smoke him and decide to take him on. Something just never went to plan as you struggled to shrug him off. You trying to understand why he kept up with you and the first thing that pops to mind is that this car must be modified although it was stock standard. (more…)

The Audi TT clubsport quattro

tt audi concept

Every Audi TT is noted for its clear lines, unmistakable dynamism and the driving characteristics of a sports car. Audi now presents the TT in its most purist form: the clubsport quattro study.

The Audi TT clubsport quattro study reduces the TT Roadster to a pure driving machine. A powerful engine, state-of-the-art technology and numerous traits borrowed from the world of motorsport are the dominant features of the TT clubsport quattro.

The goal that the development engineers set themselves for this vehicle study was to achive purism at a premium level. No hood, no A-post instead, a wraparound windscreen kept extremely low which deliberately evokes images of a speedster. The flat, slightly tinted window strip surrounds the cockpit. The panoramic windscreen and the two humps located behind the interior in place of the hood compartment are reminiscent of a racing car. The rollover bars familiar from the TT Roadster are kept flatter and are the same height as the sports bucket seats. (more…)

The six Cylinder Turbo class (300kw+ monsters), which usually has about one or two cars on the dyno rollers had no less than five cars setting runs including a VW Passat station wagon which put the crowd in aw when it ran over 300 kw’s on the wheels on the first run and virtually raised the roof when it bettered its first run with a soaring high 437 kw’s!

Mercedes Benz will unveil its sledgehammer CL65 AMG coupe at this year’s AutoRAI show in Amsterdam this week. Powered by a 6.0L V12 developing 612hp and an earth-moving 1,000Nm of torque, the new CL model is guaranteed to be a real crowd puller and may even manage to lure away some of BMW’s ‘M’ faithful.

The 0-100km/h should take less than 4.5 seconds, while top speed is an estimated 300km/h although it’s unconfirmed whether the 250km/h speed limiter will be installed. Besides the addition of the mammoth engine, AMG engineers have also modified the car’s aerodynamic package and suspension including adjustments to the Active Body Control System.

Renault's Pocket Rocket

So there I was, happily cruising down a nice straight road in the Megane Sport when the dealer leaned over and said “Put your foot flat down”. I obliged and the car didnt do anything. Weird. All I heard was a muttering of “turbo lag” from next to me but then slowly and surely the rev counter started to climb. Suddenly the turbo reached full boost at 3000rpm and all hell broke loose. I was slammed into my seat and before I knew it, I had hit 150km/h. Now thats turbo power for you!

Shane's Zoopedup Pug

Published by on Mar 8th, 2007, 10 Comments

When it comes to modifying cars, it can be said that the Peugeot is not the easiest but it sure is one of the sexiest. Shane became a Pug fan having loved the 206 from the World Rally Championships.

With his new found passion for Peugeot Shane did what any Zoopedup man does, modify. First he slapped on 17″ Racing Hart Concepts mags to give the car more street cred. Exterior extras also included a mesh grill up front and a Power Flow Tailpipe. Since red was the in thing for his PUG he also installed under car neons (in red) and had the whole interior done in red suede to complement his new sound installation. Which consisted of one 12 Kenwood 1500w DVC sub connected to a 1100W Monoblock also from the Kenwood stable. To head up the install he selected a JVC front loader connected with 200W Kenwood splits to sort out the high ranges.
