New BMW X3 2 Next Gen BMW X3 Spotted in Munich

Veils will definitely be taken off the next generation BMW X3 at this year’s Paris Motor Show if not earlier given the testing stage its prototype has reached. The next-generation X3 was spotted doing rounds in the streets of Munich Germany and the prototype looked almost production ready. Compared to the current generation model, the X3 slated to arrive in the future is a tad bigger. The X3 will be a powered by a number of engine choices which include the regular 3.0-liter six, a turbocharged version of the same unit and a diesel option which might hit the market sometime later after the petrol variants get introduced. With a 2011 BMW X3 huge mystery and the latest set of spy shots not revealing much either, we’re still drooling in here to see what the new model will look like. The exterior has been heavily camouflaged keeping those sleek lines a secret for now, but, they do give away the fact that it would be a heavily redesigned engine. As far as the interior is concerned the spy images reveal some dials and a start/stop button. The round rear lights are a façade for the prototype only since the final product will surely have something different. As far as the engine speculations go, the X3 will come with a 3.0-litre single turbo unit which is capable of churning 306 horses. Smaller engines may not be available straight away but they will eventually endorse the X3. [via WCF]

BMW X3 is largely being awaited for the fact that it has gone larger and is more luxurious. But the enthusiasts will have to wait till the time we find it guised on a regular street for then we would know it is real close. Apparently, it was snapped secretly in the Death Valley testing in the hot weather conditions. The redesigned 2011 X3 crossover gives a few details despite be scantily revealing in that camouflage. The most evident are the production air-intakes which furnish an aggressive appearance.

The changes have made the X3 highly differentiable from the X1 but it gets closer to the X5. Another improvement to this car would be the interior cabin reforming the car with a luxurious cockpit and avant-garde features, not to mention the iDrive. The engine choices will include four diesel variants ranging between 177 hp and 229 hp. The petrol options will include two versions of the 3.0-liter inline-six. One would be a naturally aspirated version churning 230hp while the other twin turbo-charged variant will top 300hp. There is also a gas-electric version in the ranks. We expect to see this car next year with sales beginning in the middle of the year. [via WCF]
