888-hp Audi R8 (or R888) from MTM

Audi R8 by MTM

Audi R8 is not only appealing to drivers, but also to tuners and since the Germans like to modify cars – and they are pretty good at it, you should know this one is coming from MTM, those crazy guys that built the Audi TT Bimoto twin-engine with 780hp. They built it for a European customer and presented their tuned Audi R8 at the Dubai Motor Show. Here is what we found out on it:

  • a 4.2 liter engine with a turbocharger system that sports 888-hp
  • 610lb-ft-torque
  • R-tronic transmission
  • does 0 – 60mph in 3 seconds
  • is electronically limited at 223mph (360 km/h)

If you can afford it, I don’t think MTM will decline your offer to change your R8 into an R888 for €280,000. By the way, great wheels, don’t you think?

Tuned Porsche 997 Turbo Cabriolet, The Germans Know Better

Porsche 997 Turbo Cabrio tuning by TechArt

Not only that German cars rule but it looks like German tuning companies, do too. I’ve just laid my eyes on the newest Porsche 997 Turbo Cabrio, tuned by the guys at TechArt and all I can say is aside performances I’m in love with the looks. With 630 hp from a modified Boxer 3.6 liter engine this beauty only takes 3.5 seconds to reach 100km/h while the top speed is 345 km/h.

TechArt offers two kit versions, Aero Kit I and Aero Kit II, with both to include a front spoiler, a new bumper, a redesigned wing on the extendable rear spoiler, lateral air outlets and aerodynamic side sills. Other improvements include a 25mm lowered suspension for better handling and an adjusted PSAM shock absorption system that includes the VarioPlus threaded chassis.

I’d be interested to know the price for this beauty, but I guess if I wait for next month’s Essen Motor Show in Germany we’ll even get a video of it, not just the price.

Japanese tuning specialist INGS has released a new line of aftermarket accessories for the 2008 Honda Civic Type-R sedan. INGS avoided offering any sort of mods for the 221 PS naturally aspirated K20A 2.0-liter i-VTEC engine, preferring to concentrate on aerodynamic and chassis improvements.

Pimp my Ride beetle up for sale

Carscoop+VW+BUG+PIMP+MY+RIDE+1.jpg

Here’s one more “Pimp My Ride” project vehicle that’s up for sale. Gus, a reader of Carscoop, discovered Lawanna’s VW Bug that aired on MTV’s Pimp My Ride Show episode 414, on the Los Angeles area Craiglist. The seller –we don’t know for sure if it’s Lawanna, is asking a mere $40,000. Not bad at all for a rustbucket on wheels that was half-way to the scrapyard before Xzibit took over.

The VW Beetle’s theme was “Hair Force One” due to the fact that Lawanna was a hair stylist who was about to enter the air force. Among other things that the GAS crew did, was to install a sink with shampoo and conditioner dispensers in the front, as well as waterproof speakers and an iPod nano. Inside the car features a high-power hair dryer that got air via a scoop on the car’s roof.

Nissan 350Z Cobra kitted

article_11060-img_1.jpg

The new Nissan 350Z Roadster starts into the new convertible season with some modifications. Cobra Technology & Lifestyle already offers a broad range of sporty COBRA N+ tuning components for the 2006 model. Of course most COBRA N+ options are also available for the modified 350Z coupe.

The facelift on the 350Z bodywork required the development of new COBRA N+ bodystyling components made from flexible PU-Rim in original equipment quality. The COBRA N+ front spoiler, which also fits on the coupe, not only lends the 350Z more passing prestige but also minimizes aerodynamic lift on the front axle. The front is further refined with a special COBRA N+ grate made from high-gloss stainless steel. Read the rest of this entry »

Mercedes-Benz Brabus Bullit

Over the past three decades Brabus has perfected the art of transplanting large and extremely powerful engines into the bodies of small cars. That path led to numerous world records and entries into the Guinness Book of World Records. The Brabus Bullit, built in small-series production based on the new Mercedes C-Class sedan, celebrates its world debut at the IAA 2007 as the ultimate wolf in sheep’s clothing.

At the heart of this supercar Brabus placed the Brabus SV12 S Biturbo engine. The implantation of the 6.3-liter engine into the confines of the W 204 series body is yet more proof for the superiority of Brabus know-how. The turbocharged twelve-cylinder engine delivers 720 bhp of superlative power and 974 lb-ft of superlative peak torque.

The performance figures for the Brabus Bullit place it into pole position in its class: The car sprints from 0 – 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds, reaches 124 mph after just 10.49 seconds and shatters the 186-mph (300 km/h) barrier after a mere 24.5 seconds. Top speed is more than 224 mph. There are only a very few super sports cars in the world that can hope to match these numbers.

All-in-all, this is one serious motorcar. Massive engine, massive brakes, massive power… any way you look at it, this thing is fast…

DB9S Styling Package for the Aston Martin DB9

aston.jpg

As you may or may not know, the new Aston Martin DBS was recently released. Featured (if only for a few minutes) in the latest James Bond movie, the DBS is an evolution of the very popular DB9.Well, a company based in England called Project Kahn, has released a styling kit for the standard DB9. The DB9S styling package comprises of two front and two rear valance pieces, side skirts and rear boot lip spoiler. The addition of the front valance sections provides the aggressive front bumper and the molded side skirts provide a ‘low to the road’ look which beautifully sets off the curves and flows of the original bodywork. The styling package is finished off perfectly by a set of 20” Kahn RSV alloy wheels, which Aston Martin actually used on their DBS prototype.

So for those of us who unfortunately can’t afford a DBS, but can afford a DB9, there is now a way to make your ride look even hotter. And for those of us who cant afford either, here are a few pictures of the DBS and the DB9S to wet your appetite…

Recipe for drifting a SUV

taxi 2.jpg

Besides the driver skill there are quite a few other ingredients needed before drifting can be achieved with a SUV. Building on the success of 2006 whereby Gatebil built a 634 bhp E90 3 series BMW taxi, they have come up with the perfect recipe once again for another bizarre project. Well the first ingredient is definitely a very large 7 seater SUV in which case the Volvo XC90 fully qualifies this criterion. Remove all the 4×4 functionality to leave it rear wheel drive. Slap in a huge American V8 motor caple of pushing out 787 bhp with 1010 NM of torque. Then lower the suspension and add 22 inch wheels. And voilà, the perfect SUV drift machine and probably the fastest taxi in the world as well.
