Two new BMW models have surfaced at the New York International Auto Show in Manhattan, NYC. The first one is BMW Concept CS we’ve told you during the Shanghai Auto Expo last year in April. It sure looks like a sports coupe GT, is bigger than the 7-series and looks just about stunning. Rumors say that the car will get over the concept phase some time soon, but we don’t have a confirmation for that yet.Until the new Concept CS becomes the real thing, a new BMW M3 Convertible was presented. Aside the usual M3 lines, the specs are making it a hit: 414 bhp from the 4.0L V8 natural aspired engine, double clutch gearbox or the seven-speed transmission.

How to damage 370 BMWs in one shot

bmw damaged cargo How to damage 370 BMWs in one shot

This had to be a bad day for BMW or better, for the insurance company that had to pay. It happened in New Jersey, where 370 new BMW E92 M3s have been damaged while 70 were totally wrecked, all of these because of a tipped cargo ship at port.

This is such a bad deal for those that were waiting for their car, but knowing that BMW is going to repair all the damaged and sell them as new, is worse. The 70 totally wrecked will be crushed.

The loss will be covered by the insurance company, but that’s still not reassuring for the buyer. You’d better call your local dealer and see if you’re getting a brand new car or a repaired-new car.

During our late last night chat, our friend Vincent from Autoblog.nl sent us this cool video link of an airstrip drag race between a Bugatti Veyron and a BMW M3 E92. Prior to the drag race (we hope you’re not seriously going to ask us who won), Dutch racing driver Ho-Pin Tung decided that he should warm up a bit the bimmers tires. And what smoky warm up that was!

Here’s a great review of the new M3 that shows you just how dramatically some of the key electronic settings in the car can effect the overall performance. Like the reviewer in this video, we’d want to set every mode to the ‘extreme’ setting as well.
