Merc fans out there now have yet another reason to be curious. We recently got a sneak view of the new hatchback 2012 Mercedes B-Class – that too with less wraps. The smart entry level small car model looks ready to hit the roads. From the spy pictures we chanced upon, the car seems to be spacious in the rear. That could mean there is added rear seat legroom providing additional comfort.

We know that the next generation Saab 9-3 is under development and now the early chassis test mules with few modifications (extended wheel arches) have been found running on some roads in Southern Europe.
The buzz in the auto market is that Volkwagen’s Up! (or Lupo if you wanna call it so) will be introduced at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. The 2012 Volkswagen Up! has been inspired by the concept that was shown at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show. Some of the details that have been emerging say the model that is to go into production will be a three-door hatchback, which can accommodate four passengers.

General Motors has revealed the 5-door Chevrolet Cruze hatchback and the car will be officially introduced at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. With the introduction of the new car, customers have an alternative body style to the traditional sedan.

The fifth generation Suzuki Swift has been a great success so far, hence why the automaker intends to re-introduce the commuter as a three-door hatchback for the US market. The prototype of the 2011 Swift model was caught winter testing but the heavy camouflage ensured that nothing conclusive was revealed. Word is that the new four wheeler will bring a Kizashi-inspired grille, distinctive taillights and swept back headlights. Power to the wheels should come from both petrol and diesel options engines. The petrol variants will include a tiny 1.2L and a 1.6L engine producing 125hp at 148Nm of torque. Speculations are ripe about a hybrid model based on the 2009 Swift plug-in hybrid concept but this bit of info still needs a confirmation. [via WCF]

The Audi A7 Sportback and the BMW 5 Series GT are just one reason why hatchbacks have sprung into popularity, again, and believe it or not Mercedes don’t have their own, yet. We’re saying yet as rumors have surfaced that the Germans are ready to roll one by introducing the new Mercedes Benz CLS ShootingBrake at the 2010 Paris Motor Show which will be held in October next year. The CLS Shooting Brake is the derivative of the Mercedes Concept FASCINATION which first broke cover at the Paris event in two years ago. Looks like the hatchback market is getting ready for a hot contender which happens to hail from Germany again.

We managed to got some pictures with the new Mazda 3 Hatchback that the company is going to release next week during the Bologna Motor Show. The five-door hatch is going to pack a 2.2 liter turbo diesel engine (Euro 5 diesel engine) under the hood, which comes in several tuned variations that will sport up to 182 hp. That’s not much news except for the pictures, but at least is a good thing that we’ll get to see it live next week. So what do you think? Is Mazda 3 Hatchback what you expected or what would you have changed? – via WCF

Regular readers will probably remember when we told you that Opel Insignia is getting official or the Opel insignia pictures. We even got a few messages that you really like it, so when I first saw the Hatchback version I knew this is definitely a must, to show you.Because I can’t see any sign of camouflage, it could mean that this model will hit the market at the same time with the sedan. Rumors say that an estate variant version is in the works and GM will release it next year.
There aren’t any big design changes except that the Opel Insignia Hatchback has an bigger rear window. Just like the sedan it will be equipped with seven engines to choose from, front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive systems.

I can’t wait to see it on the streets. Do you?
