For those who think the Porsche 911 GT2 is not badass enough, we have news for you, the RS version just made an early appearance at a dealer event. Guilty for grabbing a few pictures with the 911 GT2 RS are the folks from Autoblog and TeamScoop, who mentioned the fact that, indeed, the new model will be a true racer that brags to sweep away even the best track times. Word is that the Porsche 911 GT2 RS will feature a roll cage for more protection, an active suspension and adjustable aerodynamics. The most interesting part is that under the hood there’s a little monster that churns 550 hp (or 620hp according to TeamSpeed), that helps the four-wheeler go naught to 100km/h in a mere 3.2 seconds. Price wise, we’re looking at a highly expensive vehicle — it will cost some $320,000 and only 300 units will ever be built. [via TeamSpeed]

The 2012 Porsche 911 GT2 facelift is being developed quite secretly given the fact that there wasn’t a single spy shot of the scorcher available until date. The 2012 model which will go on sale next year and will remain in production until the release of the Porsche 991 was spotted for the first time by spy photographers in Germany. The commuter will get slight modifications on the outside while under the hood will be a direct injection engine boosting power to 550 PS which is way better than the previous 911 models. The facelifted model will also sport a new bumper as well as a new front splitter. [via WCF]

The latest viper to prove its metal in the American Le Mans series next year would be the just revealed Corvette Racing C6.R GT2 which will obviously boost the confidence of the Corvette Racing team as a Single GT Class variant. The loss at this years’ Championship needs an impetus such as the Corvette Racing C6.R GT2 for the credentials are certainly heartening. Also, the non racing drivers would love to know that this car is ready to share a lot with the Street Going Variant and this includes- the aluminum frame, chassis structure, the steering system, the aerodynamic package and the body design. As far as the rest of the season for the Corvette Team is concerned, it will be a 6.0-litre V8 based on the 7.0-litre LS7.R and used in the GT1 version that will be put to use. For the coming season, the Vette Team plans a smaller 5.5-litre V8.

Porsche has finally announced the new 911 GT2, after both the brochure and official pictures were leaked. The 911 GT2 “vintage 997″ will be shown to the public at the Frankfurt auto show in september and will be “the most powerful 911 so far homologated for road use”.
The 911 GT2 will share its underpinnings with the 911 Turbo, but it will feature larger air intakes at the front, a larger rear wing and a souped up engine, with 50 ps more than the standard Turbo: power output will be 530 ps at 6,500 rpm, maximum torque will be 680 Nm between 2,200 and 4,500 rpm.
