When it comes to electric vehicles, there seems to be an added number of cars that are being lined up. Many top brands are geared up to follow the trend of future. German player Opel has taken it a step further, by announcing plans to launch a ground breaking fuel-cell vehicle (FCV). The vehicle is expected to roll out in 2015.

BMW is desperate to jump on the green bandwagon and as per the company sources the German automobile brand is targeting to produce hydrogen fuel cell vehicles by 2014. The targeted drive-train for the hydrogen fuel cell options includes a petrol engine clubbed with a 5 kW fuel cell, and an 82 kW ( 110 hp) electric motor. At low speeds it is the hydrogen fuel cell that will power the rear wheels and when there is a need to pelt, the petrol engine will kick in to power the front wheels. It is noteworthy that both combinations can also work together to render speedy acceleration.

Bentley is keen to please the environmentalists by offering a complete range of vehicles that ride on green wheels. For Bentley, Ethanol is the key and though the technology has been around since 2003, it is now that Bentley has decided to offer its entire range with the Flex-Fuel engines with the models hitting the market as early as June this year.

The exact details of the range expansion is not yet public but what we do know is that the lineage will be equipped with an internal combustion engine, a 6.0-liter W-12 beast in this case. The Bentley commuters could run singly on gasoline, on E85 bioethanol or on a combination of both fuels. Bentley aims to reduce CO2 fleet emissions by 15% by 2012 and introducing Flex-Fuel technology laden engines is a quick solution, just that there aren’t enough E85 stations around and Bentley should have considered the drawback.
