Pictures of a BMW X1 with M package accessories have been leaked. Earlier pictures of the car in a bit of camouflage were seen on the web. The X1 is a hugely popular vehicle and any update effort should be made equally impressive. Although M stands for Motorsport from what the pictures show us, the changes are mostly to the exterior design and interior stuff.
The much anticipated Audi Q3 is likely to be unveiled at Frankfurt Motor Show. Well, no further details are available in this regard. The vehicle is expected to feature two engine options namely a 2.0-liter TFSI with 170 PS (125 kW / 168 hp) and 211 PS (155 kW / 208 hp) as well as a 2.0-liter with 170 PS (125 kW / 168 hp). Both will be mated to the usual transmission choices and C02 emissions are likely to range from 158 g/km to 184 g/km.
The upcoming X1 crossover of BMW has delayed its U.S launch by almost one year. BMW spokesman Tom Plucinsky said the X1 won’t be coming “until fall of 2011 at the absolute earliest.” The stated reason is that the Leipzig, Germany plant can barely keep up to the extreme demand for the vehicle in the European Markets. Hence the plant is struggling to meet its European orders. Amidst this, US launch is not possible at the moment.
In a bid to take on competition posed by BMW X1, Audi Q3, and Mercedes BLK / GLC, Volvo is all geared up and is in the process of developing an XC30. Expected to be a cross over vehicle, the Volvo XC30 will have size specs less than the earlier XC60. The measurements read 4350mm in length, which is 280mm shorter than the XC60.
Spy photos of the BMW X1 M Package have surfaced. Not too many details were visible, thanks to the extensive, well done camouflage that was in place. What’s obvious from the pictures is that the M Package has modified the side sills, redone the rear bumper and also added a revised front fascia. Also spotted were unique wheels, a paint job in monotone and Shadow Line trim.
Debuted last year at the Paris Motor show, the new BMW X1 has been caught completely undisguised during a photo shooting these days. With a slightly reworked grille and some additional chrome here and there, the 2010 BMW X1 is going to feature a variety of naturally aspirated and turbocharged petrol engines that will obviously know a bit about performance and technology. As for the interior, it looks roomier, because the X1 is expected to ride on a E90 3-Series platform. Priced at some £20,000, expect it to go on sale starting this fall. [via CSS]
One more week and the Paris Motor Show starts. A lot of new additions and a lot of new concept will see daylight, off of which the new BMW Concept X1 which we don’t know much about. And BMW is using it against us. A recent video on their website (BMW-web.tv) shows just a little of what those present in Paris will see. The guys at BMWBlog rumored that it’s going to use a four wheel drive system (but also a rear drive system) with a range of four and six cylinders diesel and gas engines, but I’m not betting my money on it.
First to get their hands on it (and I’m not talking about the French next week) are going to be the Europeans. Do you like their presentation?
BMW is very much involved in designing their new X-models but I think we just found out how the new BMW X1 will look. Indeed it is very similar with the new X3 model, the mini-SUV, but with smaller rear-side doors and a shorter wheelbase.
From our sources X1 will be released sometime in 2010 at the same time with its main rival Audi Q3, and should be aimed to the young because it’s not too short and not too tall, has normally sized wheels. I see girls under 25 fitting perfectly in a BMW X1.
