Wolfgang Durheimer, the new CEO of Bentley has confirmed that the luxury car manufacturer has a SUV in the works. The upcoming 4×4 Bentley has been codenamed BY736, and is expected to launch in about three years.

Following realization that Porsche’s current assembly plants in Zuffenhausen, near Stuttgart, and Leipzig are too small to meet their high demands, the company is now looking to start production from North America and China. The plan is aimed at hitting the predicted global sales of 200,000 units.

Bentley is on road to creating a rival to the Aston Martin Rapide. The upcoming entry-level four-door coupe is said to be modelled along those lines and is likely to be positioned on a platform just a tad below the Continental and Mulsanne. Apart from the Rapide, the Bentley innovation is seen as gearing up to take on the Maserati Quattroporte and Porsche Panamera.

Bentley Motors has unveiled two special-edition Continental models for the Middle East – the Continental Flying Spur Arabia and the Continental Flying Spur Speed Arabia. Besides retaining all the performance of the company’s Continental Flying Spur and Spur Speed, the limited 50 units of the two new models comes with some additional exterior and interior features.

We loved and admired the luxurious Bentley sedans over all these years and we have every right to know what exactly makes it the brand it is today. Bentley has gone head and revealed the details of the craftsmanship involved in chiseling the interior of its Mulsanne luxury sedan. The Mulsanne features trademark Bentley features that have been around since the 1920s.
Other than the signature elements, the Mulsanne interior is resplendent with mirror-matched wood veneers in Walnut, Piano Black, Oak, Bird’s Eye Maple, Vavona, Olive Ash or Sapelli Pommele. Even the seating arrangement is treated to a complex tanning procedure which creates a rich and mature leather aroma. The seat leather itself is available in a whopping 24 color options. The Mulsanne also gets an 8-inch multimedia screen, which is covered by a veneered door (when not in use), thick carpeting, and stainless steel accents that are polished carefully for 10 hours.
Bentley is keen to please the environmentalists by offering a complete range of vehicles that ride on green wheels. For Bentley, Ethanol is the key and though the technology has been around since 2003, it is now that Bentley has decided to offer its entire range with the Flex-Fuel engines with the models hitting the market as early as June this year.

The exact details of the range expansion is not yet public but what we do know is that the lineage will be equipped with an internal combustion engine, a 6.0-liter W-12 beast in this case. The Bentley commuters could run singly on gasoline, on E85 bioethanol or on a combination of both fuels. Bentley aims to reduce CO2 fleet emissions by 15% by 2012 and introducing Flex-Fuel technology laden engines is a quick solution, just that there aren’t enough E85 stations around and Bentley should have considered the drawback.

Bentley is not missing the Geneva Motor Show this year but the Bentley counter will not be sporting a luxurious automobile this time around. Instead, Bentley will sell items from its Bentley Collection as they will create a Bentley Boutique display where the wares will be on sale. The Boutique will have Bentley crafted items specifically for the event and items made for the car-maker by other famous design houses. The list of wares include puny hand-stitched leather items like wallets and passport holders stitched from the same hide Bentley uses on the inside of its luxury cars. There will be some limited edition offerings like the zai for Bentley sport skis, the Estede eyewear and Tibaldi pens all of which will fetch a high-price.

The Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible was not just a concept and these latest spy shots from an official photo shoot confirm the fact. The ragtop will be showcased for the very first time at the upcoming North American International Auto Show and then the Geneva Motor Show in March this year. On the outside, the convertible shares the styling traits with the standard Continental Supersports thanks to same front bumper, 20-inch wheels and the smoked headlights.
On the inside, the spy shots could only reveal a similarity of the twin sport seats as of now. The difference between the standard model and the convertible is predictably the reduction in weight, and what is a rarity to the lineage are the Quickshift transmission and the carbon-ceramic brakes. Under the hood is a 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 engine that renders 621hp and 800Nm of torque. Courtesy of the awesome power generation, the car can pelt from 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds and it has a top speed of 200mph. The ragtop can commute both on petrol and E85 bio-fuel.
