The 2011 Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 race car was one of the most eagerly awaited unveilings at the New York Auto Show and the race car broke cover at the event to a lot of fanfare. The SLS AMG GT3 will begin appearing in the competitive segment in early 2011 and deliveries will also start around the same time.

The 2011 Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 is all about more carbon fiber usage and larger air-intakes. It also features a new front valance with a huge carbon splitter and there are flicks installed at the front of each wheel to reduce down-force. Under the hood, the AMG 6.3 liter V8 engine receives a slight modification compared to a stock car. It is the lowered weight and not the engine that helps the car dash to 60mph in 3.7 seconds while the listed top speed is 186mph. The top speed can be upped by adjusting the gear ratio.

The Mercedes Benz SLS AMG, factually speaking, the successor to the SLR McLaren, is now being produced with sales beginning in March this year. The Mercedes Benz C63 AMG super Sedan from Daimler got hotter for the coming season courtesy of the performance package plus treatment. The tuning kit for the C63 AMG borrows a few essential traits from the SLS AMG supercar pushing the power to 487hp (30hp more than the standard version). The treatment ensured that the 6.3L V8 beast got new forged alloy pistons, a new set of crank rods and a lightweight crankshaft all from the SLS territory. To top it all, a titanium-colored intake manifold and recalibrated computer module were mated to complete the package that now helps the car pelt from 0 to 62mph in 4.4 seconds. The Australian car market will soon be embracing a limited edition Mercedes Benz C 63 AMG edition 63. The Edition 63 will have the same features such as those of the standard Mercedes Benz C 63 AMG giving it s similar look. There will be a few things different from the standard model including unique 19-inch DTM-style alloy wheels, three exclusive color choices Platinum Black, Mystic White, and Allanite Grey, and dark tinted privacy glass fitted to estate models. The interior will have a number of unique design features that include two rare upholstery colors- designo sand or designo classic red, extended black leather appointments with contrast stitching, illuminated door sills, AMG floor mats, and an AMG shifter.
The performance hasn’t been much toyed with and the only change is the addition of an AMG locking differential that helps with optimizing rear grip when accelerating out of turns. The engine choice includes the standard C63 AMG 6.3-liter V8 engine that produces 451hp and 600Nm of torque. It can pelt from 0 to 100 in 4.5 seconds, the estate variant clocks the same distance in 4.6 seconds. Only 63 of these units will be produced each selling for $169,900 AUD.

Edo Competition sure loves the Mercedes Benz C63 exterior for even though it came out with its trimming scissors, there was hardly any change made on the outside. Just the wheels were changed into black 19-inch lightweight alloys with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup high-performance tyres that measure 235/35 19 at the front and 265/30 19 at the rear. Even the interior has been spared however better leather upholstery and unique trims can be rendered on order.

So basically the trim concentrated on the engine. The ECU was recalibrated and upgraded for higher performance numbers. Also, a new high-performance exhaust system, exhaust headers, high-flow catalytic converters and new air filters were added to assist the engine cool-off faster. The E 63 also has the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission from the SL 63 AMG. No more conventional torque converter. Instead there is a wet start-up clutch – Controlled Efficiency, Sport, and Manual. The manual allows the driver to change gears using paddles or the gear shift.
