It looks like if you want something fast and German and muscular, you will have to give Mercedes Benz a call. While their main rivals seem to have gone a bit soft in terms of design, Merc are cranking it up continuously with wider wheel arches, angrier front ends and even more aggressive rear ends.

Have a good look at this, the new Mercedes Benz C63 AMG Coupe Black Series, to give the car it’s full title. It’s not the first C Coupe Black, that arrived a few years ago with a warning letter to owners asking them to please drive in perfect conditions or else risk certain death. Oh, and sign here so you can’t sue us when that happens.

This new model is even more insane, if that’s possible. Employing the legend-in-its-own-day 6.2 litre naturally aspirated V8 (which they call the 63, but hey, what’s 100cc between friends) the new C 63 Black delivers 380kW, or 620hp. That is quite remarkable, given that it’s the lightest and smallest Mercedes to make use of that engine. The C63 that you can buy right now for around R800 000 in South Africa puts out 336kW, nothing to sneeze at but almost paltry in comparison.

Acceleration from standstill to 100km/h is at a claimed 4.2 seconds; fast, but I must admit I thought it would crack the 4 second barrier. The engine borrows heavily from the internals developed for the SLS AMG Gull-Wing, and given that this car is lighter and more track focused, we wonder which would be fastest around a track. Have Mercedes accidentally built a C-Class faster than it’s flagship supercar?

If track driving is your thing, Merc will set you up with the Black Series Track Package, which makes this car even more track orientated. But you’d have to be a seriously wealthy track day enthusiast to run one of these, given that the showroom model stands at over R800k. Deliveries start in 2012 and I wouldn’t be surprised if you needed over R1.5m of your hard earned Rands to get your hands on one.

The larger grille and headlights borrowed from CLS with LED indicators were visible though. To add, from the pictures the car looks bigger compared to its older sibling. The powertrain could be from the S 500 vision concept.

Right now, the only gasoline-electric hybrid on offer by Mercedes is the S400, which combines a 3.5 liter V6 engine with an electric motor. The S400 is selling well in the US market, particularly in Hollywood, as celebrities look to dump their Priuses for something more in line with their social status.

Although not sure, the design element for the S-class must be from F700 and may have only hybrid engines apart from AMG variants. This would make sure that Mercedes helps the cause global fuel economy and emission norms. It should return at least 78 mpg (3 L/100Km) and CO2 emissions well under 100g/Km.

If only the hybrid version will be out, we have to wait and see. The car should be out some time in 2012.

This new model gets fresh radiator grille, large Merc star, wing type transverse fins and a new AMG front apron with a lower cross member painted in high-gloss black upfront. There is also AMG daytime running LED lights alongside the clear lens headlamps with ILS (Intelligent Lighting System) and latest side air outlets.

Staying with the front of the car, the bonnet with upgraded powerdomes is aluminum made. The tires are 235/40 R 18 and 255/35 R 18 at front and rear respectively with 5 twin spoke AMG light alloys painted in titanium grey with a high sheen finish.

Changing our view to rear, the new apron has a black diffuser insert with 3 diffuser fins. Two chrome twin tailpipes from AMG give the looks as well as the note.

The transmission is from SL63; AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission has 4 driving modes (C, S, S+, M) and double-declutching and RACE START functions. The C mode or Controlled efficiency mode provides smooth and early up-shifts maintaining min engine speed. This improves fuel efficiency at 12 L/100 Km/ 12.3 for the Estate and reduces CO2 emissions to 280 g/Km (288 for Estate). The M mode is dynamic and responsive while the S and S+ modes offer gearshifts within 100 milliseconds.

The heart of the car is an eight cylinder 6 L engine producing 336 kW (457 hp) at 6800 rpm and 600 Nm of torque @ 5000 rpm. For the facts and figures column, 0-100 Km/h in just 4.5 seconds (4.6 for Estate) and top speed of 250 Km/h.

AMG additionally offers the sports package whereby the power output increases to 358 kW (487 hp) and 0-100 km/h acceleration time reduces to 4.4 seconds (Estate: 4.5 s).

This beauty will be on sale from July, costing €71,340 in Germany.

However, the gull wing doors that are present in the standard SLS AMG will not be present on the Roadster, which may prove to be appealing to many who considered that the gull wing door feature was too over the top for their taste.

Reports confirm that the vehicle will be equipped with the 6.3 liter (6,208cc) V8, which promises an output of 420 kW (571 PS / 563 hp) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque. Getting from 0-100 takes a mere 4.0 seconds and the SLS AMG Roadster will give a top speed of 309 km/h (192 mph).

The 2012 Mercedes B-Class will be coming with a longer wheelbase, a Mercedes-Benz GLK-like grille, a panoramic glass sunroof and a tailgate-mounted spoiler. We also get a peek of the interior from one of the photos. But, unfortunately, we only get to see the rear seatbacks and the front armrest.

The new 2012 Mercedes-Benz B-Class will be sportiest yet as a high-performance AMG variant was confirmed by the tuning arm’s outgoing boss Volker Mornhinweg late last month. AMG currently offers V-8 engines, but for the B-Class a new specially tuned four-cylinder engine will be developed.

The current Mercedes-Benz B-Class has enjoyed reasonable success in most of the markets. But the next-generation model due in 2011 is expected to sell in even higher volumes.

On top of that we’re hearing that on the sides there are skirts with cooling ducts for the rear brakes and carbon fiber pillar trim, a carbon fiber diffuser fitted with an LED fog lamp and a roof spoiler. All these for a round €15,000 (~ $18,500) or €22,000 (~ $27,200) if you go for the fully-optioned package that includes a set of 5-spoke GWA wheels and Valvetronic exhaust pipes.

Most of you already know that the 2012 Mercedes CLS 63 AMG is slated to compete with the likes of Porsche Panamera and the Audi A7, what you may not know is that it was spied testing in Nürburgring. The 2012 model is very close to hitting the production floor and a good indication of that is the prototype loosing its veil on the test circuit in Germany, where most of the cars are found heavily clad. The commuter is looking very aggressive and sporty and gets blessed with LED running daytime lights. From what we’re being told the 2012 four-door Mercedes CLS 63 AMG is getting an all-new 5.5L twin-turbo V8 engine that will churn 536bhp and it will be mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. The 2011 Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 is all about more carbon fiber usage and larger air-intakes. It also features a new front valance with a huge carbon splitter and there are flicks installed at the front of each wheel to reduce down-force. Under the hood, the AMG 6.3 liter V8 engine receives a slight modification compared to a stock car. It is the lowered weight and not the engine that helps the car dash to 60mph in 3.7 seconds while the listed top speed is 186mph. The top speed can be upped by adjusting the gear ratio.

The spiritual successor to the 300SL Gullwing has officially arrived and the good news is that it has hit the production floor. The Mercedes Benz SLS AMG, factually speaking, the successor to the SLR McLaren, is now being produced with sales beginning in March this year. It is the first Mercedes automobile designed in-house by AMG and the gamers know that the luxury automobile is the cover car for GT5 on PS3. The very tangible version features a 6.3-liter V8 AMG engine capable of churning 563hp with 650Nm of torque. Courtesy of this stunning power, the car pelts from 0 to 100km/h in 3.8 seconds and it has an electronically limited speed of 317km/h. Power transmission happens through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, which is ideal for a heavy-duty powerplant like the AMG V8. On the outside, a lot of aluminium has been used (space, dual wishbone suspensions) but the SLS AMG still weighs 1620kgs, which is a good 60kgs heavier than the Audi R8.
