Acura 2010 ZDX Unveiled, Full Specs Released

Published by on Jul 20th, 2009, 1 Comment

You would surely remember the Acura ZDX prototype from the 2009 New York Auto Show and even if you don’t, it will now be there on the roads (as the 2010 Acura ZDX) pretty soon and there is no chance that you would forget once you get a nice glimpse. The X-factor is the rarity of exterior design that uses an elevated position-unusual for a four door coupe. With that position comes a rear tapering roof with bold fender flares, a panoramic roof and hidden rear door handles. The 19-inch 7-spoke alloys which feature in this coupe as standard are also the largest in the Acura Range.

Powering the grind is the 3.7-litre naturally aspirated V6 engine capable of generating 300hp with 366 Nm torque. The powertrain is supported by a 6-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel mounted paddles. What is pleasing is that the Super Handling All-Wheel-Drive (SH-AWD) system is standard with all ZDX models. The ZDX will come in three variants as the standard, technology package and ultra premium range. Each of these will have a hand-stitched leather dash, Bluetooth connectivity, a USB audio interface, an iPod connection and a CD player. With the higher levels, features like Sat-Nav, multi-view rear camera and adaptive cruise control will be offered.

Honda to Release Acura Coupe in 2010

acura coupe speculation Honda to Release Acura Coupe in 2010

Unlike Porsche which is not doing that great these days, Honda is among those that are being hit by the economic downturn, but not that bad. Rumors coming from Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport and Japan’s Holiday, have it that the Japanese automaker is currently working on a sleek four door coupe. Dropped between the TSX and the TL line range, the new Acura coupe is probably going to run on a 3.7-liter V6 engine mated to Acura’s SH-AWD and Motion Adaptive EPS system. An amazing ride that sure gets the eye, we’d love to see this beauty on the streets next year, but can’t help wondering how expensive it’s going to be … [via TempleOfVTEC]

Honda’s luxury division, Acura, has been working on a new sports crossover that plans to take on BMW’s X6. Based on the MDX model, the 2010 Acura CUV is a four door coupe with a very daring design with bulging front and rear well-wheels and a shield grille that follows the company’s new theme. With power being sent to the wheels from a 3.7-liter V6 engine that outputs 300 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque, there aren’t many details except for the fact that it features the much praised SH-AWD (Super Handling All-Wheel Drive) system. Amazing, just doesn’t make justice. Isn’t it? [via Acurazine.com]

2009 Acura RL going to Chicago

Another model that we’re going to see in Chicago during the Auto Show is the redesigned 2009 Acura RL luxury sedan. It’s not the Acura concept we’ve told you about in January, but just as good, because this time it’s looking stunning. The shield shaped front grille really helps.

Acura RL should use a SOHC 3.7l V6 engine with VTEC variable valve timing, that is pushed by 300 hp, has a five-speed automatic transmission and features the Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive technology we’ve seen before and  Acura’s new Collision Mitigating Braking System (CMBS).

Other improvements that are worth mentioning are on the inside because navigation means weather and traffic updates via XM satellite radio this time,  adaptive cruise control or active front lighting.

Let’s hope we won’t see other Acura problems for the RL model that should be available this spring.
