Last month I told you that Bernie Ecclestone, the owner of Formula One, is very upset because Melbourne organizers are not meeting his demands for a Formula One night race and he would like move it to Russia. The reasons for a night race in Australia was that for European viewers it’s not easy to watch it, considering the hours they broadcast.

News came in the other day and apparently Sydney is ready to take over. They accepted to host a Formula 1 night race and New South Wales state premier Morris Iemma told the Herald Sun “It’s not a blank cheque, but it could be held at a place like Eastern Creek, obviously with modifications. […] If Formula One is looking for a night race then Eastern Creek could be converted to suit them“.

If Sydney will hold the new Australian Grand Prix do you think they’ll be just as successful at getting crowds at the race?
