Drive Channel

The Drive channel on YouTube, the one that brings you the crazy and super entertaining series like Chris Harris on Cars, has launched a new series called ‘Tuned’.

Tuned, as you can expect from the name, will feature tuned cars in various shapes and sizes.

The first episode, which made it’s debut yesterday, features a Subaru WRX Coupe. One of the more popular upgrades for this car is a R-STi drivetrain swap. In this episode of Tuned, the guys pit a R-STi drivetrain swap (JDM) against a USDM drivetrain swap.

The point of the matter? To figure out which method works better!

Art is subjective. Art is also weird sometimes. But as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Now, some ‘beholders’ will find this sculpture of a 1971 Ford Torino beautiful, and others, well, might just find a little bit strange. This sculpture of the legendary 1971 Ford Torino, was made by Romanian artist, Ioan Florea.

Florea used liquid metal to mould his sculpture into the shape of a Torino with some impressive detail on it, too. asked why he chose the Torino, Florea said that the big American cars used to make a strong impression on him as a child.  (more…)

RUSH

If you are a car lover, especially a Formula One lover, you have to go and see this film.

Rush is a film about the infamous 1976 Formula One season. It chronicles the rivalry between legendary Formula One drivers, James Hunt and Niki Lauda.

This biographical film is different than most in it’s genre. It’s deep and beautifully written while still being action packed (obviously, a it’s a racing film). It has been praised by critics and is already receiving some heavy Oscar buzz.

Rush stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor) as James Hunt and Daniel Bruhl as Niki Lauda.

Written by Peter Morgan and directed by Ron Howard – Rush is a definite must for everyone, even the ladies!

It was released in September, so check your local cinema for listings. Believe me, you don’t want to miss this one!

Mammoth CT scanner to analyze Car Wrecks

CT scan wrecked car

We know that if you have an internal problem with your body your doctor would recommend either an X-Ray or a CT scan. And now it seems the same technology will be used on crashed cars to help analyze and determine what caused them to crash.

Computed Tomography (CT scan to you and me) has long since helped many a human, and now the Fraunhofer Development Center would like to do the same for crashed cars.

The center is using the biggest CT scanner they can get their hands on to analyze the wrecks. Naturally, a standard, hospital-sized one will not cover an SUV…

Fraunhofer has said that the CT scan will provide analysts with an in-depth, 3D view of the wreckage without hamoering or disrupting anything. Thus leaving the wreckage in it’s ‘original’ state.  (more…)

Ron Burgundy

Calling all Anchorman fans! This is one for you – and we can almost guarantee that it will have you up in stitches!

In a (very) clever advertising campaign, Dodge has enlisted the services of world famous,  San Diego anchorman, Ron Burgundy to help promote their new, 2014 Dodge Durango.

Nicki Minaj gets a Pink Lamborghini Aventador

If you don’t know who Nicki Minaj is, then you might be living under a rock. But nevertheless, here is some background information on the bootylicious rapper.

Nicki Minaj is a female rapper that loves tight clothes, bright colours, hair extensions and, above all else, pink. Her debut album was even entitled ‘Pink Friday’.

So, also taking into consideration that Nicki loves fast cars, it should come as no surprise that the rapper recently bought a Lamborghini Aventador Cambrio – and decided to spray paint it Barbie Pink.

The original colour of her Aventador Roadster was a understated, ‘Blue Hera’ colour. But, just as Miss Minaj’s personality and sense of style, the Blue Hera was soon swopped for a loud and proud Barbie Pink. And by Barbie Pink we mean REALLY pink.

We’re not too sure about the colour, but we are sure thats she will definitely get noticed cruising down Hollywood Boulevard.

Check out the pics below:

Would you drive a Barbie pink Lambo?

Review – Vredestein Ultrac Vorti tyres

Published by on Sep 27th, 2013, No Comments

Vredestein is a smaller dutch tyre company who recently launched their range of high performance tyres in South Africa. The company has no partnerships with other major tyre companies, and has thus focused their full attention on creating tyres primarily for the high performance market. This means that you will not find Vredestein tyres for your average A to B car. I got offered the chance to try out the new Vredestein Ultrac Vorti – a new ultra high performance tyre which tops the current lineup.

This means that I had to get hold of a car to fully try out this new brand of tyres (none of my cars have 18 inch wheels) – not only in terms of wheel size, but also in terms of performance. (more…)
