The Guinness World record for speed has been set on NASA’s Shuttle Landing Facility runway at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida by a custom Ford GT.
The modified street-legal Ford hit 283.232 mph (455.82 km/h) in a standing mile. The vehicle, created by Performance Power Racing features components made from an aerospace aluminum alloy called pandalloy. This specially developed aluminium is perfect for racing as it has lightweight, high strength and temperature resistant properties.

AutoMobile Magazine contributor Ezra Dyer decided to put two vehicles, one of which is electric, up against each other in an impromtu 0 – 100 mph drag-race.
The models were two luxury sedans – The electric Tesla Model S and the four-door 2013 BMW M5. The place was Gingerman Raceway in western Michigan, in the U.S.
The result? Closer than anyone expected.
Watch the two cars go head-to-head in the video below:
Back in February, Chris Harris also pitted the BMW M5 against the Nissan GT-R. Take a look at the result of that comparison here.

Ahead of its debut at the Paris Motor Show, the F-TYPE is once again put through high-speed testing by engineers showcased in a series of films.
In ‘Fierce’, filmed at the Nardo Test Facility in Italy, the F-TYPE is put through the most rigorous high-speed testing by Jaguar’s engineers. The unique ring shaped track means that test drivers can not only VMax the car but it’s also possible to stress test at the most extreme high temperatures.
Watch as the F-TYPE is pushed to its limits to ensure outstanding performance:
The film ‘Focused’ was filmed at The Nürburgring motorsports complex in Germany. Nürburgring features a Grand Prix race track and an older “North Loop” track, nicknamed the “Green Hell” by Jackie Stewart, which is widely considered one of the most demanding purpose built racing circuits in the world – there is nowhere else like the Nordschleife (the North Loop).
Here the car is tested through a series of sustained high speed laps with rapid changes of direction, gradient, speed, braking, and surface to help refine the cars set up, damping, braking systems, for the most punishing lap on the Green Hell. Proving the cars sporting credentials and real world liveability:

Aston Martin has released quite a large number of images including high resolution pictures and videos of the Aston Martin Vanquish that are showcased on the website.
Unveiled to the public in June 2012, Aston Martin describes the Vanquish as “the ultimate expression of art and technology, a new class defined: the super grand tourer.”
The vehicle recently spent a lot of time in Italy with photographer Rene Staud who produced some magnificent images (like the one above) of the Vanquish in the streets and countryside of Tuscany.
In addition, the company has put together a three-part video series of behind the scenes footage to show how all those images came together.

Finally, Volkswagen has officially revealed the new Golf 7 that is expected to arrive in early 2013, in a seven minute video that showcases the various angles of the new model.

In the latest video, Chris Harris takes on the BAC Mono. The BAC Mono is a carbon-bodied piece of sculpture with the innards of a Formula 3 car.
The claimed curbweight is 540kg that gives 520bhp per tonne. The car packs a 2.3 litre Ford Duratec engine lavished with some of Cosworth’s fanciest internals.
The car aims to provide the sensations of a racing car in a road legal package with a price tag of about £90, 000.
