Ferrari F430 up in flames

Published by on Sep 13th, 2007, 1 Comment

Someone has not only managed to film the Ferrari roaming the Philippine highway before the incident, but he also captured the F430 on tape while it was roasting like a Mexican sausage. To our misfortune, the videographer missed the part when the driver of the F430 sensed that something was terribly wrong pulling to the side of the road. Press play..

Opel has unveiled the new Astra OPC “Nürburgring Edition,” a unique version of the three-door Astra that emphasizes the brand’s history at the famous circuit. Opel’s production cars are extensively tested during their development stage on the ‘ring, and back in 2005 Manuel Reuter first demonstrated the performance of the Astra OPC when he set a new class record in the car on the “green Hell”.

The limited edition Astra comes with a special white paint scheme, a larger rear spoiler and checkered flag decals plus lightweight wheels and carbon looks mirrors. The interior features full leather trim marked with the outline of the famed Nordschleife on the headrests, carbon-look dash panels and a numbered plaque on the glovebox.

The 237hp (177kW) 2.0L turbo motor remains untouched, and sees the car travel to 100km/h from rest in 6.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 244km/h. The car officially goes on sale in the first quarter of next year but should make an appearance at next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show. Follow a jump for a video of Reuter and his record setting attempt of the Nurburgring in an Astra OPC.

Running of the bulls

In order to promote their supped up Gallardo who’s V10 has been enhanced with a pair of turbos pushing output to 709 Hp, Heffner-Performance, a Florida based tuner, put the small Lambo against its bigger bro, the 580 Hp Murcielago. Apparently you needn’t be a rocket scientist to guess who wins…

Published by on Jul 23rd, 2007, 4 Comments

Here’s you chance to get a “live” glimpse of the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X performing test runs in the Nürburgring racetrack in Germany. Apart from the new lightweight and high-performance 2.0-liter turbocharged MIVEC 4-cylinder engine that’s expected to produce around 300 Hp, the new EVO X will also feature a new 6speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission (like Audi-VW’s renowned clutchless DSG gearbox). For hardcore gearheads like ourselves, Mitsubishi will also offer a traditional 6speed manual gearbox -if you’ve driven the EVO you’ll understand why.

Lamborghini Gallardo V8

Published by on Jul 12th, 2007, 1 Comment

The Lamborghini Gallardo V8 was caught testing at the Nürburgring race track. As you can notice from the video, the V8 Gallardo will use the same exhaust note as the Audi R8 and the exhaust pipes are smaller than on the V10 Gallardo.

Lamborghini will borrow the current V8 engine from the R8 for a more affordable Gallardo. The new supercar will sit bellow the current V10 Gallardo, but above the current Audi R8. The V8 will bust around 430 hp in the new Gallardo, but with the low weight of the supercar, the performance will be better compared to the R8: 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 195 mph.

The Suzuki Hayabusa is one of the fastest things I have ever seen in motion. Now these guys have taken a Mk1 VW Golf, converted it to rear-wheel-drive, and dropped a turbocharged, 350-horsepower Hayabusa mill under the hood. Take a look.. nothing short of amazing
