Real life ‘Hoverbike’ could become a reality soon

Hoverbike

One thing that has always fascinated petrol heads (or actually most people in general) is the concept of a ‘hoverboard’ or ‘hover car’. The idea of literally hovering above the ground as a mode of transport is an exciting prospect and one that we have only seen in sci-fi films. Until now that is.

Chris Malloy, an Australian designer based in London, has come up with something called a ‘hoverbike’ – and while it’s not a hovering skateboard or a hovering car, it’s pretty much as close as we’ll get to any ‘hovering’ mode of transport.

The Hoverbike concept is kind of like a cross between a motorbike, a four-wheeler and a drone quad-copter. And it really does look as though it just came off the set of the latest Star Wars film.

The Hoverbike uses spinning rotors on both the front and back side of the machine. These create enough energy for the Hoverbike to actually lift off the ground. (more…)

Sun Valley Road Rally

It might not be the fastest car in the world anymore, after the Hennessey trumped it from the number one spot, but let’s be honest; it is still super exciting to see a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport race down a straight stretch of road, even if it now holds second place.

At the recent Sun Valley Road Rally in Ketchum, Idaho, one of Bugatti’s rarest beauties got to show off it’s skills and power and in the process blow the socks off of everyone attending the event as well as ourselves, because luckily, someone realized that this is moment not to be missed and pulled out the video camera.

The Sun Valley Road Rally effectively turns a stretch of Highway 75, surrounded by trees and beautiful, picturesque mountains, into a high-speed runway where super cars get to show off just h0w ‘super’ they are.

During the event, the road is not open to the public for use (obviously, they risk a collision with a super fast super car) but the event is open to the public to come and watch, with all proceeds being donated to charity. (more…)

If ever there was a perfect vehicle for a passionate surfer or skater (besides the classic Volkswagen hippie van) then this Fiat concept is it.

Fiat partnered with Vans, the shoe company that is synonymous with everything skating and surfing, to bring us their concept for the ultimate skate/surf car. It features their 500L crossover car with (a lot) of Vans branding and motifs.

The radical concept car was officially unveiled at the Vans US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, California.

And while the car would probably be rad for a die-hard surfer/skater dude, fir us non beach or tar loving folk, it just kind of comes off as strange. Howver, the design is sort of cool and definitely gives us a feeling of summer loving.

The entire design of the car is clearly inspired by the Vans lifestyle manifesto: skate/surf or die.  (more…)

jaguar

If you’ve tuned into any television channel in the past month, then its very likely that you have seen Jaguar’s British villains ‘Rendezvous’ ad.

The ad, which features prominent British actors Tom Hiddleston, Ben Kingsley and Mark Strong, showcases the actors as typical, British villains. They ask the camera whether you have ever notched that in Hollywood movies all the super evil villains are always played by Brits.

The ad forms part of Jaguar’s latest ad campaign, ‘It’s good to be bad’. Naturally, with Britain being the home of Jaguar, they play on typical British things, and of course, show us how badass the Jaguar (F-Type in particular) is.
