The buzz in the auto market is that Volkwagen’s Up! (or Lupo if you wanna call it so) will be introduced at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. The 2012 Volkswagen Up! has been inspired by the concept that was shown at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show. Some of the details that have been emerging say the model that is to go into production will be a three-door hatchback, which can accommodate four passengers.

Reports say that successive version of the car will come out as a sedan, a five-door hatchback and an MPV. There are likely to be several three-cyclinder engine as options – including a1.0-liter petrol, a 1.2-liter TSI with 86 PS (84 hp / 63kW), and a 1.2-liter diesel with 75 PS (74 hp / 55 kW). An electric- only version will also be available, which was previewed by the e-Up! concept.

The three-door hatchback Lupo is likely to be in showrooms across Europe by late 2011, and reports say that the base price will be approximately €10,000.  The electric version is to come out a year after the hatchback.
