Ohio-based aftermarket tuner Switzer Performance loves beastly engines and it mostly works its magic on the Porsches. This time around, Switzer thought about taking a gamble with the Nissan GT-R after a GT-R owner demanded Switzer to increase his commuters’ power-to-weight ratio. Switzer obliged by heavily cutting down on the weight and increasing the power. The specific P800 package used for the Nissan GT-R included new intercoolers, air intakes, turbochargers and exhaust along with a new spoiler and sports seats. The package worked its magic to reduce the overall car weight by 200 pounds while increasing the pony count by 300 to reach 800hp.

Veils will definitely be taken off the next generation BMW X3 at this year’s Paris Motor Show if not earlier given the testing stage its prototype has reached. The next-generation X3 was spotted doing rounds in the streets of Munich Germany and the prototype looked almost production ready. Compared to the current generation model, the X3 slated to arrive in the future is a tad bigger. The X3 will be a powered by a number of engine choices which include the regular 3.0-liter six, a turbocharged version of the same unit and a diesel option which might hit the market sometime later after the petrol variants get introduced. If the credit crunch didn’t hurt Toyota much, the recalls had! The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has already slammed Toyota with a $16.4 million for a delaying a recall and the new is that NHSTA is planning on another imposition. NHSTA is already angry about the delay in recalling the vehicles and matters have worsened as the agency is annoyed with the report that a Japanese Toyota executive sent a letter last October ordering that engineering changes to accelerator pedals not be carried out in America. Toyota hasn’t uttered a word about contesting the first fine which could have reached $13.8 million if fully levied. We will know more about the second one in a matter of days for sure. BMW is desperate to jump on the green bandwagon and as per the company sources the German automobile brand is targeting to produce hydrogen fuel cell vehicles by 2014. The targeted drive-train for the hydrogen fuel cell options includes a petrol engine clubbed with a 5 kW fuel cell, and an 82 kW ( 110 hp) electric motor. At low speeds it is the hydrogen fuel cell that will power the rear wheels and when there is a need to pelt, the petrol engine will kick in to power the front wheels. It is noteworthy that both combinations can also work together to render speedy acceleration.

Last week, I was invited by Mercedes-Benz in Stuttgart to take part in the company’s brand workshop. We’ve been taken to the Mercedes-Benz Museum, then to their design centre and at last, to the test grounds in Malmsheim. That’s where the real fun was. And why do I say that? Among driving a lot of new models in Mercedes’ new lineup, I got behind the wheel with the New Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe 2010. It was a diesel Mercedes E350 and boy was the drive fun — sorry guys for taking it to the limit, didn’t know we’re not allowed
So here’s an official video with the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe. It’s a really neat monster, don’t you think?
