In a recent news announcement coming from Ford, we just heard that the company plans on coming out with 9 new engines and 6 new transmissions for 2010. Ford has shown great interest and is determined to upgrade all their engines, and although largely meant for the North American market, the new technology — to an extent — is borrowed from its European operations. That means that in 2010 we can expect 9 new engines and 6 new transmissions that include the Ti-VCT 305 horsepower, a 3.7 liter V6 for the 2011 Mustang or the V8 5.0 liter with 412 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque for the 2011 Mustang GT.

At this year’s NAIAS in Detroit, Ford took the wraps off their new 5.0-liter V8-powered 2011 Ford Mustang GT. Known for its muscle, the 412hp output and the 390 ft-lb of torque (increased with 97hp and 65 ft-lb torqu from the 4.6 liter version), helps the Mustang GT go naught to 60mph in just under 4.7 seconds. As a standard the car comes with a six speed automatic gearbox that manages a 17/25mpg rating, but doesn’t forget those willing to shift themselves and have added the option for a six speed manual gearbox.
The new 2011 Ford Mustang GT includes new suspensions, an aerodynamic rear deck lid and an electronic power-assisted steering for a great driving experience. As the car has more power now, everyone assumed that brembo brakes would be included in the standard edition, but surprisingly one has to buy them separately.
No word regarding price for the new 2011 Ford Mustang.

The Cadillac CTS-V Coupe has been officially revealed at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. The CTS-V Coupe has more features compared to the standard CTS Coupe which includes center mounted exhaust pipes, 19-inch wheels that come with Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires and a bulging hood.
Power is sent to the wheels by a powerful 6.2-liter V8 engine that outputs a good 556hp and a 551 lb-ft of torque. The standard edition comes with a six-speed manual and if you want it there’s an option for an automatic transmission, too. All these help the car reach 0 to 60mph in just under 3.9 second.
The new Cadillac CTS-V Coupe will be priced around $67,000 US dollars and will be up for sale this summer.
Do you wish to treat your car at a topless/bikini car wash? Make sure it’s not something like this, as I’m pretty sure it’s not funny to hear the elephants coming out the door ready to “do” your car — although it’s funny watching those car owners pwned…….

Today we caught wind that Toyota is addressing all those recent runway incidents and will be installing brake override systems on their cars by the end of 2010. How does that translate to English? It looks like the system will force the car engine into idle mode if braking sensors sense that the driver is trying to apply the brakes without success. First to go with the change are the Lexus ES350 and Toyota Camry models, with installation begining this month. These efforts by Toyota follows on the heels of a huge 3.8 million vehicle recall to reshape and replace accelerator pedals. [via Autoblog]
Although some two months ago, the new Audi A8 has made it’s first appearance at a private function held in Miami last November, the official debut of the luxury sedan has been made at this years North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.

Pretty lightweight but packed with goodies, the new Audi A8 is in direct competitor to the BMW 7 Series, with Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Lexus LS and Jaguar XJ considered as secondary rivals. The new technology advances installed in the car include the new-generation MMI system, the latest quattro AWD system and the regenerative brakes. As for what sends power to the wheels, a wide range of engine is available, out of the which a 184kW (250hp), 550Nm 3.0 TDI engine or the 4.2 petrol V8 that churns 274kW (373hp) and 445Nm of torque.
Looks damn cool, don’t you think?
For many years now, Americans have had the option to turn to small, fuel-efficient cars. Surprisingly every time the option came close, they hated what they got.

You don’t even need to think far. How about the 1973 Arab Oil Embargo? Do any of you remmeber it? The shortage of fuel and fist fights at gas stations scared U.S. drivers to considering small cars like the Ford Pinto, Chevrolet Chevette, Dodge Colt, Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, and the Plymouth Cricket.
Eventually to no one’s surprise fuel was available at a much cheaper price once again and the US soon got back to the old standard V-8 powered cars and trucks. If one looks into the money aspect of it, the bigger and traditional American vehicles made much more sense to them.
Well it looks like this time (the Fiat 500 just made it’s first appearance in the US) things are going to change from the roots, as Ford Motor Company along with the likes of General Motors have got their collective engineering and manufacturing acts together to give the Americans a small car worth owning. What’s going to happen this time? What’s your guess? And would you go for a small car just for saving on fuel?
It’s common sense that you shouldn’t be a MORON to be given a driving license. Don’t you think? Well here’s proof that it’s not always like that. Here’s an example of what you shouldn’t do when trying to exit a garage — but I guess our CarBlog audience is much much smarter than this idiot.
Lovely!
