Toyota Mark X G Sports Concept at the Auto Salon

It is not only the Prius from Toyota that has got the G Sports treatment as the standard Mark X has also been evolved into a Mark X G Sports Concept at the Tokyo event. Just like the Prius Concept receiving some wonderful alterations on the inside and the outside, the Mark X G Sports has also been blessed with some pleasing changes.

On the outside, Mark X G Sports Concept features a new front bumper, a revised hood, LED Daytime running lights, a modified rear bumper and a sport grille. The side skirts have been made more aggressive while the 20-inch aluminum wheels with Yokohama Advan sports tires complete the sports package. The interior receives a sports steering wheel, RECARO seats and an Alpine Audio system. Powering the concept is a 3.5L V6 which produces 234kW of power at 380Nm of torque.

Land Rover LRX is the next big thing as far as expanding the Land Rover lineage goes and the LRX has already started gaining popularity with its winter testing spy shots from the Scandinavia surfacing on the web. The heavily clad LRX mule reveals a shortened wheelbase compared to the LR2 which is why the rear end has been shortened.

The mule cased in an LR2 shell reveals nothing more but it is already known that the LRX category will help define a new segment for Land Rover. Some of the signature Range Rover design elements such as the clamshell bonnet and the floating roof will also grace the LRX model as per the company sources. The production ready model of the car will arrive later this year and the engine choice most likely will include a 2.2L turbodiesel capable of producing 160hp at 400Nm of torque and a 3.2L inline six petrol option that will hit the 230hp mark at 317Nm of torque. Toyota’s Prius is now a popular name across the globe as it was one of the first green cars that went mainstream and even registered record breaking sales. Embarking on that success, Toyota now plans to extend the lineage and the latest addition is the Prius G Sports Concept that was unveiled at the Auto Salon in Tokyo. The concept is blessed with design traits that make the car aerodynamically sound and fuel efficient at the same time. The G concept houses the same 1.8L 4 cylinder engine which is found in standard Prius. Features like a revised bumper and side skirting, LED Daytime running lights and a dual exhaust system is what separates the concept from the basic model. The interior is also a tad different with RECARO sports seats, a revised steering wheel, info display, aluminum pedals and a black piano trim.

We’re talking about an exquisite green paint job and cyber grey racing stripes on the hood as well as the deck lid, except for the roof. Tata Nano has got some good publicity at the North American International Auto Show and from what we hear, the Indian small car is expected to debut on the streets in the United States by 2011. With a 624cc petrol engine with just 2 cylinders that produces 33 horsepower, Tata Nano manages an amazing 65 miles per gallon fuel efficiency and should go North of $2,200. However, the only issue about the Nano is that it may not meet the safety measures imposed in the US. Now only if they’d bring it to South Africa, isn’t it?
