The next generation Chrysler is still a dream and for the time being, the fanatics will have to be content with a 2010 upgrade. The very first spy shots of the upcoming model have arrived and to a naked eye, there isn’t much of a difference between the present and the upcoming model. The images were taken at the Chrysler Technology Centre in Auburn Hills, Michigan and they reveal that the present LX platform has not been tampered with, in terms of dimensions. What is also evident is that the pimp look is being shed for a more rounded exterior-a major visible change on the outside. There are plush changes on the inside using wooden panels and leather upholstery although the previous models also didn’t lack the class. The 2010 Chrysler 300 will come with a 22% improved fuel economy and Chrysler is yet to announce the powertrain for this luxury saloon. [via WCF]

The Tokyo Motor Show is now over and while the focus at the Japanese event was on eco friendly tech, it seems that the upcoming SEMA will showcase a mix of green and some astonishing Camaros. Another addition to that already impressive Camaro list at SEMA will be the Lingenfelter Performance Engineering 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. Named as Pontiac Trans-Am and badged as the Trans-Am logo, the car rides on 20 by 10 front and 20 by 11 rear honeycomb wheels, giving the Camaro an altogether different identity at the event. Under the hood will be a 7.45-liter aluminium block engine that can produce a whopping 655 horses and a maximum torque of 610 ft-lb. On the inside will be a classic customized interior that will boast of a machine drilled steering wheel and billet dash inserts. [via camaro5.com]

Specter Werkes is working up its magic on the Vette again and unlike the GTR it came up with last summer, the one that it will showcase SEMA on November 3 will be a deadlier version. The BASF Pearl Blue exterior color and HRE CF40 carbon fiber wheels on the exterior will give it a desirable look on the outside but what matters most is what it gets under the hood — a 7.0L LS7 V8 at the heart with a twin-turbo setup from Lingenfelter Performance Engineering renders a mind-boggling 800 horsepower. To keep all those ponies in safe place, the Vette C6 GTR comes with StopTech brakes at the front and the rear. On top of that a revised exhaust system was also mandatory to accommodate that much power and Specter Werkes have used a Corsa option for assistance in this case. Mind-blowing, eh?

As far as the emissions are concerned, it is the aerodynamic body which takes care of that along with maximizing fuel-efficiency. Even on the inside, the hatch comes with designer seats made of re-cycled jeans and suits which goes to show that this commuter means no harm to the environment. The final prototype of the hatch should be ready by 2011 with production starting in 2012.

It’s not just the next generation VW Passat that will arrive in 2011, as Volkswagen America have confirmed that it will also ready a new mid-size sedan (NMS) for a late 2011 release. The black and white design sketch does not reveal much. Although reported to be larger in size, the VW NMS will cost $8000 less than the current Passat model which means it will compete with the likes of the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord.

Speaking of Honda, the company incidentally announced the Acura TSX Sport Wagon for an American release in 2010, stiffening the competition furthermore. Taking advantage of the weak dollar, Volkswagen will build it at their Chattanooga, Tennessee facility, and aims to sell 100,000 NMS units per year. Looks great, isn’t it?
