
Unveiled this year at the NAIAS in Detroit, the new Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S is finally ready for sale. Running on a tweaked 4.7-litre V8 engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission (with a manual drive mode), the luxury sports sedan outputs 440 hp and a peak torque of 490Nm. With a new sports exhaust system and an agressive bodywork that is all about aero-dynamics, the new Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S blast off to 100km/h in 5.1 seconds. Now where’s the recession when you need it, because that little beast is going to feature a lavish interior with Alcantara and leather interior, aluminium sports pedals and a carbon fiber interior trim. And yes it’s going to cost you a whopping amount of cash to bring it to your garage.

One of the things that goes great during the bad economy, car auctioning seems to be doing not good, but great. RM Auctions in association with Sotheby’s managed to sell a rare (only 22 ever built) 1957 Ferrari 250 TR for a whopping $12.1 million. Auctioned at Ferrari’s Maranello factory the legendary Testarosa is outputing a grande 319kW (434hp) is painted in a dashing black with white and red accents. We definitely wonder who’s the lucky guy or if he’s going to drive or not. That’s a beautiful beast to have as a pet in your garage. Don’t you think?

Tuners worldwide seem to be interested in getting beefed up BMWs on the market; and we can only be happy about it. German “tweakers” from HAMANN showed off the 2009 BMW 7 Series from their own perspective. Part of an aerodynamic kit, there’s a new front skirt with integrated LED daytime running lights, a roof spoiler and a rear spoiler for more aggressivity. Also on offer there’s a new set of four sporty tailpipes and a range of wheels that are supposed to make it stylish. Large car that tries to prove its performance, but do you like it?

Probably inspired from Star Wars (the name that is) Canadian tuners from MWDesign came up with a modified BMW M3 Coupe (E92). All about aesthetics, the “Darth Maul” BMW M3 is covered with a stylish Jerez Black paint and features an Amuse Ericsson front bumper with custom orange highlights that grab attention. Fitted to the aggressive bodywork there are carbon fiber side vents, carbon fiber side mirrors, a rear diffuser and glossy black 20-inch wheels. The talented guys at Unique Sportscars and Novitec Rosso have worked together to create a limited edition of 11 pimped Ferrari F430. Dubbed the Ferrari F430 Calavera the unique supercar features a large skull on the hood, darkened taillights, tinted windows and an airbrushed exterior by artist Knud Tiroch. It’s powered by a 4.3-liter V8 engine that outputs 707 horsepower and 712 Nm of torque, and sends it to 100km/h in only 3.5 seconds. Running on a stylish set of 20-inch wheels and boasting a revamped interior with embroidered seats, an elongated center console, and iPod connectivity, that’s one Ferrari that would cause serious head turns when it appears in the hood. Porsche 911 GT2 is powerful and expensive, but not for the wicked tuners from Wimmer RS. Recently they came out with a performance tunning package that will cost a rich guy some €29,800. This little monster now includes a software modified win-turbo 3.6-liter boxer engine, redesigned cylinder heads and high performance camshafts. All these for a whopping 680 hp and 870 Nm of torque that takes the Wimmer 911 GT2 from naught to 100 km/h in only 3.4 seconds forward to a top speed of 356 km/h. An open-cockpit supercar built by the Germans at Veritas, the RS III is going to be introduced in July at this year’s Salon Prive in London. Inspired from the past and losing all electronic driving aids, Veritas RS III features two BMW M-sourced powertrains. One is a 480hp V8 engine and the other one is a 600hp V10. Priced at $375,000 and only built in a limited edition of only 50 units, the German supercar sure kniws a little bit about power. Too bad you can’t have your girl with you, for a ride in town. Eh?
