Bill Dietz is amazing guy. He has an amazing passion when it comes to cars. And to prove it, check out this special Ferrari 365GTB/4 V12 Daytona engine. A piece of art made from eleven different woods (from oak to Philippine mahogany) he managed to recreate everything from the valve covers to carburetors and from the velocity stacks to the bolts holding the pressure plate. With an accent on details and a lot of talent and passion for cars, Bill definitely managed to come up with a unique piece of craftsmanship. It’s now at $2,650 so get in fast if you want to bring it home … [via TechEblog]

The wicked tuners at Novitec, have put together a pretty daring plan to build a supercar. Renowned for their ability to make Ferraris even better than they are, the new TuLesto (why such a bad name?) is expected to sport a 4.4-liter four-valve V8 with two superchargers that output 777 hp and send it 0 to 60 mph in 3.4s before reaching a max speed of 350 km/h. With a lightweight body frame made of carbon-fiber and aluminum, some 20- or 21-inch Novitec wheels and a lot of resemblance with Ferrari 430, the new TuLesto is definitely worth a look. We’d only wish they’d build more than 11 units … [via Autoblog]

Why do men love cars? Most of the time is because of the feeling you get when you push the pedal to the metal, but have you ever thought that we buy them to impress the opposite sex? It could be true. This is why Carblog would like to take a small break from posting about cars, so here are the 2009 Miss Tuning finalists. Just as good as horsepower, isn’t it ?

I will have to be honest and tell you guys that in the beginning I didn’t like the BMW X6, but seeing all sorts of tuners getting their hands on it, I came to feel for it. That’s the case when I look at what those wicked Germans from Hartge did with a X6 xDrive35d diesel. First they got the hands on the supercharged 3.0 twin-turbo engine to make it output 328 hp and 675 Nm of torque, which only helps to get it from 0 to 100 km/h in just under 6 seconds, and to reach a max speed of 256 km/h. But the new Harge BMW X6 is not only about an engine upgrade. There’s an aerodynamic kit made of an ultra-lightweight polyurethane plastic, with an integrated diffuser and stainless-steel tailpipes in a quadrilateral shape. And did we mention Hartge’s 22-inch “Classic 2″ wheels? A great X6 if anyone needs my opinion …
Although we’ve been teased before, new McLaren P11 details emerged on the Internet. An amazing two-seater supercar with high-mounted exhausts, a flat underpan and louvred grille the new P11 is expected to be quite environmental friendly featuring Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems (KERS) on board. Although we wouldn’t expect to see such a supercar being tested on a snowy road, the camouflaged McLaren P11 is definitely an agile, aggressive four wheeler that we’d love to hop on for a test drive— no matter where. Definitely in love with spy shots and videos, our friends from WCF managed to get their hands on a set of pictures with the new VW Scirocco R20 somewhere close to Nürburgring. With a new front bumper, the two-doors coupe is probably going to feature a rumoured 200kW (272hp) engine (same one from the Golf R20). With meaner looks and breathing aggressiveness from every little joint, the sportier new Scirocco R20 would definitely be a good buy in case the price manages to touch planet Earth somehow.

A great concept announced at this year’s NAIAS in Detroit, Cadillac Converj is one of those green coupes that will make it into production in the next few years. And although we know most of the details, the Converj is going to feature a 16 kW lithium ion battery that will propel it for 40 miles and a 1.4 liter four cylinder engine to recharge whenever needed. Although for now General Motors is not ready to tell that it has a green light, our sources reported that in 2012 we’d be able to get behind the wheel for a “clean” drive. [via motortrend]
It seems that Opel could use some better marketing these days and so does their new Insignia. Prepared to race, the new Opel Insignia OPC (or Vauxhall Insignia VXR) features a bespoke chassis, a 2.8 liter V6 single, twin-scroll turbocharged ECOTEC engine and some stylish 19- or 20-inch wheels. Capable of putting out a good 325 hp. the little beast sprints 0 to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds and a max speed of 155mph, the new Insignia OPC definitely made room for itself into our hearts. We’ll get to see it in detail from May 8th at the Barcelona Motor Show, so stay tuned.
