mercedes benz cls class aero 1 MEC Design dishes out a new Aero Kit for Mercedes Benz CLS Class

MEC Design has brought out its latest aero kit for the Mercedes Benz CLS Class. The entire gear comes with an extended front skirt, a chin spoiler with a choice of fog lights or mesh inserts, flared fenders, special MEC designed wheels and a choice between a sports diffuser or a rear bumper at the back. For most parts, the new aerodynamic additions add very little other than extra bulk on the CLR and with beyond a 40-70mm lowered suspension and a few tweaks to the exhaust; this is unlikely to set the pulse racing for the Mercedes fans. Is it just another muscle-up job for an amazing coupe sedan?

There’s big news in the F1 world these days. Apparently the current pointing system— introduced in 2002, that gives points to drivers up to the 8th place is no longer viable because it rewards consistent driving over outright winning. And they may have a point if you consider that for the last championship Lewis Hamilton only won 5 races while Felipe Massa proved to rule for six races. With that in mind, F1 bosses decided that for 2009, he who wins the most races … becomes the king. And in case there’s a tie (we can bet our paycheck on it) the old system will decide … Do you think that will change anything? [via Autoblog]

General Motors is in a mood to celebrate its supremacy in the GTS class of racing and it does by releasing the Corvette GT1 Commemorative Edition— paying a tribute to the famous Z06 and its dominance on the speedy tracks. Available in coupe, convertible, and Z06 models, with the famous yellow or black pattern, these are limited edition goodies that appeal with aesthetics more than sheer improved performance. While few modifications have been made under the hood for a performance boost, the Commemorative Edition seems more like a showpiece aimed for those who are fanatic about the Z06 and Corvettes. Powered by a 3.8 liter V6 Lambda or the 4.6 liter V8 Tau, the Hyundai Equus made its much awaited debut in the Korean market. And while the Lambda’s 285 hp and the Tau’s 360 hp does not boast of hair-rising speed, it makes up for the lack of oomph with its little techie-nuggets. Slated for release in China and Middle East later this year, the electric parking brake, the lane-departure warning system, smart cruise control and a 3.5-inch display screen give you complete value for money with a price tag ranging from €33,514 to €55,857. With the cutting edge 5-link suspension coupled with the Amplitude Selective Dampers, the Equus seems to be a wonderful buy for those looking for a luxurious everyday ride. Don’t you think? It’s hard to say which is the world’s first green supercar, but if we’re taking for granted what Ronn Motor Company has to say, their Scorpion is definitely racing for the title. However it’s not titles that bring smile on our faces, but specs and looks. And boy, the Scorpion has plenty of these. Introduced last year at SEMA and taken for a spin by our good friends from Autoblog, we’re not trying to convince you to go green … but the car looks stunning and performs just as well.

Nestled within that bodacious badonkadonk is a twin-turbocharged, Acura-sourced 3.5-liter V6 mounted amidships. Depending on the spec, the Scorpion can be had in two flavors – 450 or 650 horsepower – each equipped with the company’s proprietary H2GO hydrogen injection system.

Honda’s luxury division, Acura, has been working on a new sports crossover that plans to take on BMW’s X6. Based on the MDX model, the 2010 Acura CUV is a four door coupe with a very daring design with bulging front and rear well-wheels and a shield grille that follows the company’s new theme. With power being sent to the wheels from a 3.7-liter V6 engine that outputs 300 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque, there aren’t many details except for the fact that it features the much praised SH-AWD (Super Handling All-Wheel Drive) system. Amazing, just doesn’t make justice. Isn’t it? [via Acurazine.com]
