It would be hard to imagine leaving your Porsche 911 with its keys at a place like circuit City for an audio installation, but that is the exact insanity that Luke Liang committed at the New Jersey Circuit City store. He paid a pretty hefty price for it though as a tempted Brian Murphy, employee at the store, took it out for a joyride and wrecked the car’s suspension, tires and caused enough damage to make the mending bills hit $50,000. So, why not sue the store you ask? Well, if you have been living under a rock, then Circuit City has filed for bankruptcy long back and a claim of that amount is something that they surely cannot afford. Now, that is what you pay for being stupid, isn’t it? [via Autoblog]

How about driving a car that can transform from wheels on ground to wings in the air within a matter of 30 seconds? No, this is not Hollywood, this is Terrafugia, the Flying Car. Supposed to cruise up to 450 miles at over 115 mph in the air and then turn into a compact car that hits 60 mph with a mileage of 30 mpg, we’re pretty sure you’ll think it’s bull. But it’s not. The first test model has just taken flight. More to it, you can even book your flying set of wheels and wings for just $10,000 on the company’s website. That is just the booking price though, as you will need to shell out up to a whopping $194,000 to bring this baby home. Looks good for those congested intersections, isn’t it? [via Jalopnik]
The release of the ‘unintentional’ little teaser video of the testing of the BMW 5-Series GT probably is a good sign that the folks at BMW will soon launch the luxury sedan/coupe. Sporting distinct toned down stylistic flares, normal sized wheels, beige leather interior, standard mirrors and rounded dual exhaust tips, it looks both stylish and lavish. The interiors steal the show with their cabin like setting, the sophisticated dashboard and it looks like the very best when it comes to coaxing comfort. With the recession at a probable peak, BMW might just wait a bit longer to launch the car, but when it does come out the 5-Series GT is set to sizzle the roads. We’re expecting it in Frankfurt, this fall. [via bmwblog.com]

The future for SEAT and what the firm is likely to dish out in the coming years has been what company’s Erich Schmitt has been talking about. Apparently high on their agenda— launching the SEAT Ibiza ST (Sports Tourer), the rumored car has been finally confirmed officially. Expected to be available somewhere next year, it is safe to assume that the new Ibiza ST is a far more luxurious, spacious and powerful version of the base model that is now on offer. Rumors have it that under the hood there’s a VW 1.4 liter TFSI, twin-turbocharged engine mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox, that develops 160 hp. Looks pretty awesome, isn’t it? [WCF & autoblog.nl]

It is alarming to know that more than half of the vehicles on the road might not be insured! The crime statistics in South Africa provide more than enough reason for any responsible vehicle owner to purchase insurance! Not only do we need insurance against the risk of theft and hijacking – but also to cover damages incurred from road crashes.
Over the last couple of years the cost of repairs has increased dramatically and there has been a significant increase in the average cost of a claim. An increase in vehicle theft, accidents and rising repair costs force insurance companies to recalculate the risk and cost of insuring our vehicles.
Common sense dictates that you cannot afford to drive an uninsured vehicle. If you are an uninsured driver, you alone are responsible for covering the costs of repairing your car or even buying a new one if it is seriously damaged. You will also bear the legal costs of trying to claim damages from another uninsured driver without the assistance of an insurer.
It is important to see insurance as a necessity – and something which needs to be acquired at the time of purchase – not a month later!
The Arrive Alive road safety website has made available information to guide car owners about “car insurance and road safety”. May this assist road users to concentrate on the road rather than think about and confront additional financial threats!

Now why would anyone in the world be jealous of the Dutch? Well because they are exclusively bringing home 15 (fifteen) Pon Edition 911 4S Porsches— and that luxury will not be available for the rest of the world. The first in the world to import Porsche models, way back in 1949, the Dutch will commemorate 60 years since the special moment and Porsche will craft 15 splendid cars for that reason. With a diamond-black metallic paint, a leather interior, the old 1949 Porsche badge, sports exhaust and the Porsche name etched on the engine cover, each of the Pons will be numbered. Available for prices ranging from €172,911 to €188,261 (depending on whether it’s the Coupe or the Cabriolet), we’d sure love to make that tiger roar. [via WCF]
