It seems that these days the first look that we are getting of the big, fancy cars is when they are still on testing tracks and long way away from release. Coming from Nürburgring, Germany, the spy pictures of the Audi RS5 reveal the small rear spoiler integrated into the boot, wide fenders, two massive oval tailpipes. And big air intakes at the front, pointing towards an engine that needs its fair share of fresh air and apparently is making quite a beautiful sound as it races across the RS5! At this point it looks like the RS5 will be powered by a 4.2-litre V8 twin-turbocharged engine which could have an output of around 450hp. The car is scheduled for release in July 2010, so its release could not be too far away. [via WCF]

For those who are waiting for their first clear look of the Opel Insignia OPC, here are surely the best possible pics of the vehicle captured since date. This one in blue was taking a testing stroll on the famous Nürburgring and it is being said that the lap around the circuit was done in just eight minutes. The car is being rumored to have an engine with 300+ horsepower, a pretty big step up from 2.8-liter V6 turbo Opel Vectra with 255 hp. With Brembo brakes to handle the extra pace on offer, the unveiling of the Insignia OPC is expected soon enough. When that does happen, we will see it without those black tapes, in its entire beauty. Introduced in Essen, the Abt Q5 is already receiving plenty of upgrade options. But the latest version comes from German tuners Abt Sportsline, who initially revved up its 2.0-liter TFSI from 211 hp to 240 hp and now claim that there is also a 275 hp option waiting in line! Apart from that, there is also the option of a 3.0-liter TDI available with up to 310 hp or a 2.0-liter TDI engine with 190 hp. As far as the remainder of the tuner kit goes, you get an almost complete overhaul in the form of a custom built muffler, new rear wing and apron, larger front grill, new front spoiler, large fender extensions, and door trims. With added power options and air-suspension kit available, the Abt Q5 seems to have just gotten all the more exciting.

It seems that not everyone is feeling the pinch of recession after all. New York based jewelry designers Tiret along with LSE have created a new two door coupe that is based on the Range Rover Sport. The latest set of wheels is more about style, bling and status than actually anything else under its hood. Of course, that is no surprise when the designing of a car includes a jewelry firm. And Tiret lives up to that expectation with diamonds studded lavishly into instrument cluster dials, a luxurious built-in Tiret clock, Nappa leather seats, custom twin chrome tailpipes, exclusive woodwork and a stunning glass roof. Unveiled at Baselworld 2009 in Switzerland, expect this to most likely end up on the streets of Manhattan!
Although many have complained (regarding the new regulations), the 2009 F1 Championship started this weekend. And it did with a huge bang, as a team that closed down last Christmas won the Australian GP. For Ross Brawn, his team and drivers Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello the first race of the season in Melbourne was a dream start which has thrown the remainder of the 2009 season wide open. The big boys are scurrying around for answers, while there are many out there who believe that Ross Brawn has found a little secret to success that no one knows about.

Looks likea good year, isn’t it?

So someone at B&B decided that a car like the Volkswagen Eos needed a lot more oomph and blurring speed than what the current 2.0-litre TFSI engine dished out (200 hp). So they just tuned it up several notches with four different levels of power that go from 360 hp to 400 hp, 450 hp and 500 hp.That’s right; they took a 200 hp engine and decided to give you a 500 hp option! The new top of the line engine offers 650 Nm of torque, allows you to race from 0 – 100km/h in 4.2 seconds, from 0 to 200 km/h in just 13.5 seconds and has a max speed of 308km/h. With a special slim line oil cooler, new gaskets, ledges and few other modifications to deal with the new found power, we’d sure love to spin it for a while.

The latest body kit released by Hamann for the Bentley Continental GT is a wonderful addition to the revved up power kits that came earlier for the car. The current set of makeovers tries to add plush interiors and style to the earlier body kits that added additional whoop to the 6.0 liter W12 engine that output 630hp (650 hp for the Speed version). The Imperator’s sixteen-piece body kit comes loaded with a revised front bumper with the latest in LED datytime running light style, side skirts and fender flares with vents, a new rear bumper, diffuser and spoiler. It also adds the choice between 21-inch and 22-inch wheels. The interiors look awesome with the new orange-tainted leather upholstery making the transformation of your GT complete.
Today is a time for all road users and car owners to take some time and reflect on the environment and global warming. This day is also known as a day when Earth Hour has been transformed into the world’s first global election, between Earth and global warming.
For the first time in history, people of all ages, nationalities, race and background have the opportunity to use their light switch as their vote – Switching off your lights is a vote for Earth, or leaving them on is a vote for global warming. WWF are urging the world to VOTE EARTH and reach the target of 1 billion votes, which will be presented to world leaders at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009.
This meeting will determine official government policies to take action against global warming, which will replace the Kyoto Protocol. It is the chance for the people of the world to make their voice heard.
Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. In 2008 the message had grown into a global sustainability movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights.
Responsible car owners are urged to support this initiative – the Arrive Alive website has decided to include information on the website about the Environment and the Bus Rapid Transit System [BRT] to create awareness of how road safety initiatives may benefit our environment!
