With the success of their Focus Coupe, Ford decided it’s time for an upgraded version. There’s nothing new so far except for the fact that our good friends from WCF got some creative designers to come up with a rendering of the 2010 Ford Focus Coupe. Following the company’s current design philosophy, it has a lower grille, LED headlights, chunky wheel arches, a sloping tail end, a roof spoiler and big alloy wheels, while on the interior it has an iDrive-like system used to reduce dashboard clutter and stylish “furnishings”. With these looks and a wide range of engines, the 2010 Ford Focus Coupe it’s going to be a real winner when available on the market. [autoexpress]

Made of a special steel and all-around polycarbonate, the new E-Guard package for the new W212 E-Class lineup is an amazing protection system that many would crave for. Resisting attacks from a DM51 hand-grenade or a .44 Magnum firearm, the new E-Guard system is highly sophisticated. It has an intercom system that will allow its passenger to communicate with everyone on the outside without opening the windows, features 17-inch runflat tires, adapted AIRMATIC suspension and brakes, and has three engine variants. With a €45,000 price tag in Germany, you can only expect it to go for some $60,000. Talk about security and comfort … right?

Although the world crisis deepends, at the next month’s Auto Show in Geneva, Ferrari will introduce their HGTE (Handling Gran Turismo Evoluzione) for their 599 model. There aren’t many official details about it, but it’s expected to feature a new front grille, 20-inch three piece wheels and a new rear exhaust, while on the inside you should expect more carbon fiber trim and new sports seats. We can’t vouch that you’ll afford it, but with a standard V12 engine that outputs 620 hp (608 Nm of torque) that takes it naught to 100km/h in 3.7 seconds you should consider it. Of course if you can afford an estimated £17k ($25k US) price increase over the 599 GTB – which we are not sold on. [via autoblog]

Alpina is coming out of a 20 year hiatus from racing as it is all set to take on Porsche and Ferrari in the FIA GT3 European Championship this year. With what? Their new BMW Alpina B6 GT3. Based on the Series, the street legal race car is powered by a 4.4-litre V8 engine (mated to a 6-speed sequential gearbox), outputs 520hp, takes it from0 to 100km/h in just 3.9 seconds and tops off at 285km/hr. Alpina is still hunting for drivers to ride this beauty in this year’s race, but the good news comes from the fact that it is also available to public sale. Set for official release at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show in March, the Alpina B6 GT3 seems to be a hot set of wheels already!

It was a little while back when Porsche made an offer of $3.6 billion to Swedish truck company Scania and while a few months back the deal looked unlikely to happen, plummeting global economy and dipping stocks are now fueling the speculation that the deal might go through. This will be a bit of a revolution as it could see Porsche enter the truck business very soon. Actively producing trucks would still be highly unlikely as the company is only making a mandatory offer for Scania as it has increased stake in Volkswagen – which owns 69-percent of Scania. For now, it seems the deal will go through, but seeing a truck with a Porsche logo on it is far far away. We’d love it though. [via FT]

Remember me saying that the sheiks in the UAE can afford some of the most exquisite cars in the world (if not all of them)? Well I was right. Another example – not as wicked as the H3 on wheels, that the financial crisis managed to skip some countries, this highly customized Hummer H2 Convertible has been spied relaxing in front of the Abu Dhabi’s Emirates Palace Hotel. The seven-seater has a custom paint job with a matching red leather interior and an aftermarket fiberglass (fiberglass, are you guys serious?) hood scoop with integrated Hella lights that really steal the show. However, we can’t help but wonder why isn’t the car clad in gold? The sheiks are weird … isn’t it? [via gtspirit.com]

Ford is trying to make it to the exquisite guys club, and announced that their ongoing electric vehicle program will bring the BEV – also known as Project to the market in 2012. Based on the 2010 Ford Focus, the electric vehicle is a joint venture between Ford and Magna International, Inc. which promises a car with a range of up to 100 miles on a single charge. Though supposed to be an affordable ride, there aren’t any official details about it and to be honest we’re not sure if 100 miles are enough for the daily commuter. Wouldn’t a small gas engine do the job well … when needed? [via DetroitNews]

Based on an Audi S3, O.CT Tuning built their own version and named it Boehler Concept BS3. The three-door hatch they came out with, has a slightly modified exterior with widened rear fenders, rear bumper with better aerodynamics, a rear air diffuser, an improved air intake system, 8-piston brakes with 372mm discs and a new sport exhaust system with stainless steel tailpipes. But there are also engine tweaks that make it at least one second faster than the standard S3, thanks to a powerplant that outputs 328hp (241kW) and maximum torque of 425Nm. Only 100 units will be built, so if you like it better have €67,000 (US$86,100) to shell out for it (base price). [via autoblog.nl]
