A few days ago Bentley told us that their Continental Supersports is the fastest and most powerful Bentley. But the wicked folks from Edo Competition wanted to have a word with the Brits and they came out with this Bentley edo speed GT. Packing a 6.0-litre twin turbo W12 engine that outputs 50 horsies more (680 hp) and a max 750Nm of torque, you can only expect this monster to be fast. It goes 0 to 100km/h in 4.2 seconds, sprints to 200km/h in 13 seconds and tops at 340 km/h. As for “accessories” we’ve been assured that it features a high-performance stainless steel exhaust system, with 20-inch Sport Contact V-Max tires and an adjustable suspension that lowers the car down to only 35mm. We’d love to spin it a bit …

With Geneva just around the corner, next week is going to be awesome. And to prove my point check out the 2009 BMW Alpina B7 Bi-Turbo. Based on an BMW M7, the car is a great mix of power and lux. With a powerful twin-turbocharged, 4.4-liter V8 engine that sports 507 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, it’s supposed to reach 60mph in 4.7 seconds and peaks (electronically) at 173 mph (that’s 280km/h). Although we don’t have all the details, we’re expecting it to hit the floors with an aggressive design, uprated brakes, suspension components and a reworked interior for a comfortable ride. [via WCF]
What would the effect of the economic downturn be on road safety? Would we be able to replace our worn-out tyres in time or would many road users extend this for another thousand kilometres…? With so many non-roadworthy vehicles and overloaded taxis on the road this is indeed a cause for concern!
I remember that someone once explained the importance of tyre safety by illustrating the part of a vehicle that is in touch with the road surface. This is no more than 4 pieces of an A4 piece of paper! If you are driving a vehicle at 120km/h it becomes important that this contact is accurate and that it will enable you to steer and brake safely!
On the Arrive Alive website we have previously added various bits and pieces about tyre safety and decided to do some maintenance work with a new section titled “Road Safety and Tyre Safety”.
We would like to urge all our road users to follow strict discipline with regards to inspecting and maintaining proper tyre safety! This is something to be done regularly and with the assistance of the tyre safety experts. May we not neglect these most important components of road safety!

By putting the new Carrera GT on a serious diet and adding all sorts of carbon fiber parts, Gemballa managed to impress once again with their Mirage GT Carbon Edition. Although it’s not yet a production model, it packs a 670 hp engine that tops at 335 km/h (208 mph), does 0 to 100km/h in 3.7 seconds while naught to 200 km/h in a mere 9.7 seconds. With race car looks and futuristic lines, Gemballa’s Mirage GT Carbon Edition is one of those rides that makes you ask yourself if you can push the pedal to the metal. Much more than just a tuning exercise, isn’t it? [via gtspirit.com]

The green minded will definitely enjoy all the hard work the Swiss car maker Rinspeed has put into building an amazing solar powered concept. Dubbed the iChange and looking like a supercar, the lightweight electric vehicle features solar panels and packs three li-ion batteries and a 150 kW engine that helps it reach a max 220 km/h and takes it naught to 100m/h in 4.2 seconds. However, the most amazing part is the fact that it shapeshifts according to the number of passengers on board. We’d definitely love to take on the experience of making that tiger roar. With the 2009 Auto Show just about the corner in Geneva, more and more manufacturers are teasing us with images and specs. Volvo does the same. They’ve just announced that for next week’s show the company is preparing to bring in a stylish facelifted Volvo S80. Featuring a larger grille with a more prominent Volvo logo, chrome trimmed front air intakes and stylish cues, the new S80 will probably win you over with its elegant interior. Blessed with a twin-turbo five-cylinder 2.4-liter turbo-diesel engine that sports 205 hp and 420 Nm of torque and a lowered sport chassis, we’re definitely in for a test drive. Volvo, call us!

Celebrating their amazing heritage with over 100 years of experience in building supercars, Bugatti is expected to continue the legend and bring in a new concept for the next week’s Auto Show in Geneva. Dubbed Bugatti Centenaire (great name isn’t it?) it’s not a pimped or facelifted Veyron, but actually a new design that uses a crazy 8.0 liter, 16 cylinder (W16) quad-turbo Bugatti engine that is rumored to output a stunning 1350 hp. None of these have been confirmed yet, but we’re pretty sure the Bugatti stall will be on fire this year. The Frenc definitely know how to make the most of the ultra-luxury brand’s birthday. Don’t you think? – via autoblog.nl
Pictures are of a gold Bugatti Veyron.

To be honest I’m still thinking if there is need for words when you get to look at something like this. Apparently Bentley is planning to come up with a “green” Bentley Continental Supersports that can run on either petrol or E85 biofuel. Packing a twin-trbo 6.0-litre W12 engine that outputs a behemotic 630 hp and a maximum torque of 800Nm, the white sexy coupe is capable of reaching 204 mph and does the zero 60 sprint in nothing more than 3.7 seconds. You’re looking at “the fastest, most powerful and greenest Bentley ever” that we’re expect to rock the greenies in Geneva next month. Looks and should definitely feel amazing with that mean black and red interior or those stylish black chrome wheels. Isn’t it? – via Autoblog
