For some reason I’m not entirely happy with the new 2010 BMW Z4 being launched in Detroit (expected in Geneva) at NAIAS, but since I can’t afford it I’ll have to live with it.

Expected to run on a 3.2-liter inline six-cylinder engine that sports 343 hp, the new BMW Z4 claims that the two 3.0-liter naturally aspirated versions that output 300 hp for the Z4 sDrive35i with 300 lb-ft (406 Nm) of torque and 255 hp with 220 lb-ft (298 Nm) of torque for the Z4 sDrive30i, are better. We fail to understand why … but that’s a different story.
With a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the EfficientDynamics technology for better performances and its LED-highlighted design architecture makes the new BMW Z4 a real competitor in its niche. However we demanded more and more, because 0 to 60mph in 5 seconds sharp, is not that quick when you pay a lot of money. [via WCF]

We’ve wrote about Prius before and if you remember we even got the leaked images of what looks like the 2010 Toyota Prius. Meanwhile, the Japanese waited patiently for this years Detroit Auto Show and got it all unveiled it to the public. Technology improved and the fact that it includes 90% more parts than its predecessor and that the refined hybrid powertrain of the engine, stands evidence. The 50mpg car, is 25% better than the first Prius and some 9% better than the second generation that used to get a 46 mpg rate. With a new engine – a 1.8-liter four cylinder petrol that outputs 98 horsepower and 105 ft-lb of torque, the 2010 Toyota Prius goes from naught to 60mph in 9.8 seconds rather than the 10.5 from its previous version. The improvements are endless, so if you care about the environment you should consider a Prius. Read on for more specs. It doesn’t look bad, is it?

Electric vehicles evolved. They’re now looking great and packed with muscles. Same goes with the new Cadillac Converj that has been unveiled at this year’s Detroit Auto Show. Though still a concept, the two doors coupe uses Voltec technology (the former E-flex) with 16-kWh T-shaped lithium-ion batteries that offers a 40-mile range and only takes 3 hours to charge on a 240V and 8 hours on a 120V power source. But the Converj not only packs the electric engine, but also a four-cylinder gasoline engine-generator the recharges the batteries on the go. And last thing is about power. Would you expect 120 kW and a 273 lb-ft torque for such a car? It’s expected to hit in 2012 …
Know what? When you have something you can’t afford the next best thing is to have a friend to buy it and give you a “lift”. But if that’s not an option either, it’s obvious that you’ll only get to see it on video and maybe on the streets. That’s the case with the new Nissan 370Z that we reviewed a few days ago. The car looks elegant and fast at the same time, with bold shapes and great performances from its 3.7-liter V6 engine that outputs nothing less than 332 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque.
But don’t let me change up your mind. Just take a look for yourself and see if it wouldn’t be worth buying one of these things. Too bad I can’t afford one … [via Edmunds]

Not that we wouldn’t believe it until we see it, but the fact that the new BMW M7 got caught on camera is a reason to be happy. Isn’t it? Though it’s not official, the Germans never denied that they’ve been cooking something up for the 7-series. Apparently a reader of motortips.blogspot.com (Francisco – 100km West of Munich) found this good looking limousine parked in front of the local supermarket. With big black wheels and low profile tires, a dual exhaust system which as you know only Motorsport cars have dual exhaust @ BMW). We can’t say for sure if that’s the real deal many have speculated for the last years, but we’re confident. If it turns out to be a hoax, the owner had a great tuner to put everything all together.

Now girls, don’t you get worried or anything, because the young Cristano Ronaldo had no serious injuries. His car though… it’s a wreck now.The reigning European Footballer of the Year, Ronaldo was driving alone in his supercar – a Ferrari 599 GTB that has a 6.0-litre V12 engine under the hood which outputs 612hp and tops at 330 km/h, when the incident happened. We can’t say if he’s too young for such a vehicle or there are other problems involved, but that certainly looks like a red card to me. As for the car, don’t worry, he’ll score a few goals for Manchaster United and buy another one in a week. [via thesun]
Nissan found a really nice way to say Happy New Year to those passionate about speed and style. Debuted in November at the LA Auto Show, their 2009 Nissan 370Z got more specs out including a price. The super coupe is replacing the older 350Z, and is now powered by a 3.7-liter V6 engine that produces 332 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque.

Also interesting is that the new Nissan 370Z is going to feature two new transmission options including a six-speed manual with an optional rev-matching feature (automatically blips the throttle on downshifts) and a seven-speed automatic.
On the inside it promotes luxurious materials that scream comfort and exquisiteness from every single part: amazing stereo, leather-trimmed sport seats, navigation with with iPod connectivity.

On the outside and spec-wise Nissan 370Z should include a double-wishbone front suspension, a wider body (1.1 inches), front and rear spoilers, Nissan Sport brakes (sport package), boomerang-style headlights and taillights, and a antilevered roofline.

Starting at $29,930 for the base version (6-speed transmission), the 370Z Coupe hops at $31,230 if you’d like the 7-speed automatic brings the total to $31,230. The other version the car will be offered in, the Touring model, starts at $34,460 with the 6-speed manual or $35,760 with the aforementioned automatic.
Oh and if you think that’s not enough, then there’s a stylish package that should tune it up really nice. We’re sold. How about you?

The most interesting thing about Lambos is that they look so hot and they’re so fast. But what happens when you’re already top notch? Well it looks like Lamborghini has been secretly working on a Murcielago LP640-4 SVversion that should be lighter and more powerful, going from 0 to 60mph in an amazing 3.2 seconds. Though there aren’t any big styling changes, the new Murcielago SV should pack some new air vents, a larger bumper and a lavish interior built in Alcantra leather. Expected to be showcased in Geneva or in New York this year, the amazing supercar should cost some 25% more than the original LP640. We’re not worried though, the sheiks will definitely afford it.
