We already knowhow Golf 6 looks like, we’ve seen the GTI or the MK6 version, but did you know that the Germans have been secretly working on an all new Polo GTI as well? What you see in here is an artist rendering of what could be the fastest series Polo ever.

new volkswagen polo gti All New 2010 VW Polo GTI

Powered by the same 1.4 liter super- and turbo-charged four-cylinger TSI as the Ibiza Cupra and developing nothing less than 178 hp, it should top at 225kmh and reach 60 mph in less than 7 seconds. Mated to a six-speed manual transmission, with red brake calipers, dual exhaust, and signal mirrors, the new Polo GTI is expected to do 40mpg (7 l/100km), and emits 150 grams of CO2/km. Not that bad if you care about the environment.

Prices should be close to £15,500 ($22,500) and we think that if it looks like this, it’s going to be a top seller. At least in Europe. – WCF via autoexpress

I think they got it right – this time! Funtastik!
A most definite top seller, if it does come to a reality.

22500 is the euro eqivalent ….but I think it will be even cheaper than that in the USA. A Golf GTI starts at 23k US $. I would think 19k or so. Hopefully they will speed it up as I am in the market as soon as my current car sells ( but in this POS economy who knows when).

S.A. price will probably around the R250K mark. seems really ridiculous if you think that when they launched the G5 in 2005, was R 240K. due to high duty on cars and high executive salaries at VW

When will the new Polo GTI be released in South Africa? I am from Namibia, we currently have the new polos at the vw dealerships and they said the new gti will be launched here in November? But that doesnt make sense to me to launch a new car a month before its end of the year.

Once again VWSA will put a huge price hike on this beautiful vehicle. If going according to the pound exchange rate this vehicle should cost in the region of R180 000, but the normal run of the mill 1.6 costs more than that here, and you still have to pay for a service and maintenance plan.
