Ford Super Chief – Let’s say bye to the HUMMER

Ford Super Chief is a massive concept pickup based on long-box F-250 crew cab, that will use a supercharged V-10 engine (dubbed Triflex V10) that runs on gasoline, E85 ethanol blend, or hydrogen. The block-nosed front end of the F-250 Super Chief, which makes it a unique monster, is said to be inspired by classic locomotives and for a good reason. With trendy suicide doors, rear-seat powered ottomans, and a walnut and aluminum cargo bed and cab floor we’re certainly not going to miss the HUMMER.

If you want to see the locomotive, check out the picture gallery below and let us know what you think.

This is a bad joke on all of us – Ford is never going to produce this – or an electric car – the very bad people running Ford and GM would rather kill their respective companies than give us an electric car (these people have never designed or had anything to do with building a vehicle – they are from banking institutions and AT&T for example – no one rises up from the ranks to run Ford or GM)
where is the Security Exchange Commission? – all of the top leaders of GM and Ford should be immediately incarcerated for violating SEC rules regarding the purposeful killing of a publicly held company
and by the way – we are ready for the electric car now – the electric car motor is available for anywhere from $2K to $4.5K – these are off the shelf parts – available to anyone to purchase – runs on some golf cart batteries

[...] the new Volkswagen Pickup Concept, suddenly I go back in time and think of Ford’s Super Chief. Maybe because of the rounded shapes … who knows. Back to VW’s Pickup, in the images [...]

Buying a car is not an investment, and something like this rediculous waste of space will fare even worse than average on the second hand market. And they want a government bail-out? If my tax money was used for this crap I’d call for the Federal Reserve President’s head.
March 4th, 2009 at 2:25 am
Louis, by now you know that Ford didn’t take any bailout money. What’s your gripe now?
March 5th, 2009 at 8:01 am
@ Robert: Apart from that it is fugly? The other way to get more cash is to dilute your shares in various ways. Ford chose to swap debt for cash and stock. Essentially they are financing their debt privately, i.e. through the current individuals, retirement funds, health funds, etc who now take a dip in their value. Joe Plummer is still paying. The point is that this truck will not turn the company around. Ford is furtunate that they have excellent cheap manufacturing sites in South Africa, India, etc where profitability is easier for two reasons: lower cost of labour and higher volumes because they make and sell smaller vehicles. I drive an Indian made Ford with 160 000 miles without any problems. GM, on the other hand, is stuck with unpopular Korean brands and Chrysler is nowhere really anywhere bu in the US. If it wasn’t for JEEP they would have noise dived long before. The Super Chief is competition for the Hummer, which is a loss making model. Should I start on this thing as an investment option considering what its resale value will be? How about its fuel economy. It is large and powerful with no other purpose than to compensate for other shortcomings, pun intended. Maybe the only difference is that for me a car is a pragmatic solution to a logistical problem. For others it somehting to hang their identities on. I still have employment to ramble on about. How about the fact that, because they did not take a bail-out, execs in a failing company has no pressure to reveal their bonusses paid by a failing company, back to the shareholders. Do you have health insurance? Where do they keep your money? Just another though: how GM can not make money with Isuzu and Opel in under their name is a mistery.

I want one for test drive
June 30th, 2009 at 7:49 pm
How much will the super chief truck cost and when will it be available?
July 15th, 2009 at 5:37 pm
want to buy one price pls!!!!!!!!
September 29th, 2009 at 12:13 am
OMG really why would anybody spend money on an over size piece of crap… the Hummer will still be around and GM will still out sell Ford… I don’t know why Ford even trys
September 30th, 2009 at 9:48 pm
hey john GM no longer owns Hummer, a Privately owned Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Company Ltd. based in China, bought it up because GM went bankrupt. So technically since GM is mainly bought up by the government throughtout bailout money. chrysler is no longer american because it is being bought up by Fiat. So FORD is our real last chance.

I read on other sites that this truck is somewhere around $200,000 to $250,000..assuming that they ever actually make it..with prices like that they wont be selling too many of em.

How can someone make a statement like “best SUV ever” without having actually driven it!!? I actually thought that this was a joke when I first saw the vehicle then realised that the real joke are the Americans for even thinking about bringing such an ugly “blinged” monster into the world. Too much hype about perceived looks. To say nothing of the fact that I would be afraid to drive it in case ugliness was contagious! I think the doctor slapped the mechanic when this abomination was born. I’ll stick to driving my no-name brand “REAL” 4×4 double cab thanks. In the world of trucks, that horrific “thing” best belongs on a porn site. But I suppose beauty is in the eye of the Beer-holder!
