Renault Laguna GT goes on sale

Renault Laguna GT

By this summer the new Renault Laguna GT is going to be available for sale in a saloon and an estate version. Both petrol and diesel engines have been announced. The diesel is a 2.0L dCi that outputs 180hp at 3,750 rpm and 400Nm of torque, does 0 to 100kph in 8.5 seconds and a mixed fuel consumption of 6.5L/100km (172 g/km CO2 emissions). If you want something sportier than the 2.0L 16-valve petrol engine may be the solution. It outputs 205hp at 5,000 rpm, has a 300Nm torque and does the 100 (kph) in 7.8 seconds. Of course the mixed fuel consumption is a little bit higher, 8.2L/100km and 194 g/km CO2 emissions.

Now that we know what we can expect under the hood let’s see the other details.

It was developed by Renault and their Renault Sport Technologies division, has an Active Drive chassis with four-wheel steering, some new lateral air-intakes, gloss black wing mirrors, smoked rear lamps and aerodynamic sills. My personal favorite are the twin tailpipe and the Celsium wheels equipped with 225/45 18-inch special Bridgestone Potenza tyres.

Geely GT Concept, goes to Beijing

Geely GT

It’s been a while since I haven’t seen such a concept, not to mention that this one comes from a Chinese manufacturer. Apparently the 2008 Beijing Motor Show is going to have a pretty special guest in the name of Geely GT. They don’t have any spectacular models so far, so I presume this is a marketing move to get some attention their way. From what I see it has a few lines from well known models including Ferrari’s 612 or the Nissan GT-R, all packed in a beautiful Peugeot 607 theme. This is definitely something I’d love to put my behind in, but need something more than just these teasing renderings.

Seat Leon FR550 TDI – Limited Edition

Seat Leon FR550

SEAT is going to build a limited edition Leon FR550 TDI version. I’ll have to admit that at first I thought FR550 means that it’s going to have an engine to output 550hp but then I realized that it’s not going to be much different from the FR we know and just one step lower than the Leon Cupra.  The 550 is the number of units that will be built. It will have the same 2.0L TDI engine that hits 60mph in 8.2 seconds with a fuel consumption of 39.2 mpg in the city and 47mpg on the highway. Other goodies to make the FR550 TDI special include racing-style buckets seats, USB connectivity, 18-inch “Draco” alloys and some badges.

Reworked Golf R32, by Abt

Abt Sportsline Golf R32

With all the fuss about the new Golf 6, here on Carblog, how about a little break. What would you say about a reworked Golf R32 by German tuner Abt Sportsline? “Whoever wants such a Golf wants an extremely fast compact car,” says Hans-Juergen Abt and he’s probably right.

The V6 engine got a few mods via a modified motor management system and the introduction of an Abt compressor kit with supercharger and air cooling system that will output 370hp (from 250hp). With the new features, Abt’s Golf R32 tops over 270 kph, going o to 100 kph in only 5.0 seconds (down from 6.2 seconds). What I can say about the exterior: those are beautiful 19-inch wheels they’ve put on it.

That’s a fast car, too bad we don’t know the price yet.

2008 Lamborghini Reventon – wordless

2008 Lamborghini Reventon

When it comes to a brand new Lamborghini is there anything that words can summarize better than a bunch of pictures? We’ve managed to get our hands on some pictures of the new 2008 Lamborghini Reventon. I am glad I have to type these for you and not talk because my jaws are blocked. Take a look at the 640hp Demon as it fights its way into your heart. We already love it!

Ferarri dominates Malaysia, Raikkonen back in business

The Formula One race of Malaysia has ended. The big winner was Kimi Raikkonen that managed to lead Ferrari on top over the three days of the Grand Prix and if it wasn’t for Felipe Massa to spin out on lap 30, Scuderia was probably going to win the first and the second places. But it happened and Kubica from BMW went on 2nd place.

McLaren managed to secure the 3rd place with Kovalainen and the 5th place with Lewis Hamilton that had to start the race from the 9th spot in Malaysia. Here are the results:

Malaysia F1 results

Cirbin V13R – Car or Bike?

Cirbin V13r

I don’t know for sure if this is a bike or a car. This is why I would like to ask all our readers to submit their comments to see what the new Cirbin V13R is. Word is that this Harley-powered vehicle (first hint probably?) will soon go live on the streets with a retro fiberglass body that hides the tubular steel chassis.

It has two seats one next to the other, adjustable pedals (so it’s a car?), tachometer, fuel gauge and a speedometer. Taking a closer look and considering the $40,000 price tag I would definitely say this is a carbike. A three-wheel drive with one sole purpose: pure fun. It should be available to the market this Spring.

Kia KOUP, obviously a coupe

Kia Koup

A new addition in Kia’s yard at the International Auto Show in New York is Kia KOUP. As the name says this is a coupe with very aggressive lines. The exterior design is very attractive with a great panoramic glass roof that extends down the rear, but I will let you be the judge of it.From the info I have there’s no certainty Kia KOUP will be produced, but if they do, it will have a twin-scroll turbocharged 2.0L Theta II engine GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) that will output 290hp and 289 lb-ft of torque, a six speed automatic transmission and front wheels drive. Other specs include Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and adaptive front lighting.

Not sure about you, but I really like it. Looks compact and very sporty at the same time. Here are two more pictures:

Suzuki Kizashi Concept 3, revealed in NY

Suzuki Kizashi Concept 3, revealed in NY

Not sure if you knew but Suzuki started a beautiful series of their Kizashi concept in 2007 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. First they released concept 1, then concept 2 and now in New York they’ve unveiled what could be “a final version” of the Kizashi. In Japanese, Kizashi means prelude and rumors say that the company is working on releasing a sports sedan by 2010 and will have a lot in common with Kizashi 3.

We are not certain about the specs yet, but the market is expecting a 3.6L DOHC V6 engine that will sport 300hp. Waiting for it.
