More than 20% of Bugatti Veyrons, are in Dubai

Bugatti Veyron in the Desert

Following the Bugatti Veyron that got a parking ticket a few days ago, here is something new that you could be interested in. Did you know that about 1/5th of Bugatti Veyrons have been sold in Dubai? Consider the 1.5 million people population and the fact that 15 have been sold there and you get a pretty nice ratio, 1 supercar for every 100,000 people.

In the other direction, 37 units have been sold in Great Britain where they have a 60 million population so the rate is pretty bad. I guess business is doing great in Dubai if they have 15 millionaires to afford a Bugatti Veyron.

Saab 9-1 – Compact Concept at Geneva

Saab Aero-X frontAnthony Lo, is Saab’s designer and these days he revealed that the Swedish company will present during the Auto Show in Geneva their newest compact concept, Saab 9-1. Based on Opel’s Astra platform it may come with a 1.4 liter turbocharged engine and as always with the Swedish producer, a BioPower version as well.

This is the main competitor of Volvo C30 and though rumors said we’ll see it in London this year, it seems like it’s going to be Geneva afterall, in March.

Nissan GT-R Specs Brochure

Nissan GT-R

Rumors of a Spec V version of R35 Godzilla, that we all knew as the new Nissan GT-R, were confirmed these days when a brochure leaked and the result seems to be simple more power and less weight. By using several techniques to pump up the muscles of a sports car the new Nissan GT-R is supposed to come with an all-carbon fiber body and should develop 382 kW / 512 bhp. To be honest this could suit well the Bond car, but who knows.

I’m not sure what the price would be, probably somewhere near $100k but if you consider the performances (this could probably get from 0 to 60 in 3 seconds?) it sure seems like a great deal.

The new Mercedes Benz CLC (SportCoupe) Announced

The official announcement came in and a new Mercedes Benz CLC (SportCoupe) is ready to be released. It has the same C-class radiator grille we’re used with and the big Mercedes logo on it, new projection-beam headlamps, a new rear bumper and third brake LED light.

new Mercedes Benz CLC

It’s obvious that the first thing you look at is the exterior and the new Mercedes Benz CLC has a lot to get your attention, but what about under the hood? The specs include a 4-cylinder or a 6-cylinder engine that have from 122 hp up to 272 hp, a six-speed manual transmission for all models while the 7G-Tronic seven-speed transmission is optional for the V6 models.

If it’s fuel consumption you’re interested in then you should know that CLC 200 KOMPRESSOR that outputs 184hp is 30mpg for the gas engine and 40mpg for the diesel version.

On the interior you get three infotainment units with color display, twin tuner, speed-sensitive volume control and Bluetooth mobile phone interface. The Merceds CLC is also the proud owner the new Audio 50 APS and COMMAND APS units and the LINGUATRONIC voice-operated control system for your cellphone, audio and navigation.

Bugatti Veyron Getting a Parking Ticket

If you were thinking that a joke can cheer a crowd you’re right. But did you know that a Police office that gives a ticket to a Bugatti Veyron that was illegally parked, had the same effect? Downtown Manchester is the place where this Veyron (picture below) got the £60 fine and I can tell you the people are happy!

I’m sure the guy will be just as wealthy after paying it (£30 – two weeks time) and will probably park there again and again until he’ll have his super car towed. That’s something I would be interested to see.

Audi A7 4-door Coupe – Latest Renderings

When I first read the Audi model rollout schedule for the next five years I’ve seen there is a 4-door coupe in line for sale from June 2009 and I’m talking about Audi A7. They are already doing undercover testing for it for a series of V6 engines from 3.2-liters that develops 268 bhp to a 5-liter bi-turbo V10 engine that gives 570 bhp. All Audi A7 will come with front-wheel drive or Quattro and the biggest surprise could be the V12 TDI engine with 493 bhp that they are testing on the R8.

Audi aims at the US market with their A7 coupe model and this is why we may get to see it live during New York Auto Show in March. Meanwhile, here is the latest rendering picture I could find. What do you think?

Tuned Mercedes-Benz Sprinter SP5

Not sure if you’ve ever seen any tuned vans so far. I did but never something like that. The Germans from Hartmann got their hands on a Mercedez-Benz Sprinter and made it look much sportier. They included a sportier front bumper, grille, side sills and rear apron. Other mods include 19-inch alloy rims with 255/55 R19 tires or an exhaust system with twin tailpipes.

Tuned Mercedes-Benz Sprinter SP5

For the inside, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter SP5 mixes chrome, wood and carbon fiber. Hartman wanted to convert a regular van to something that could be used as a mobile office, a promotional “sprinter” or probably a delivery van.

Mind me for saying, but I’d go with it at van-races :)

Mitsubishi Lancer, officially gets a hatchback version

A few days ago I told you about Mitsubishi Prototype S sports hatchback that the Japanese company might show during the Auto Show at Geneva, in March, and now I’ve found out that it’s official.  Staying on the same design path as the Impreza, Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback is going to be a big crush for those looking for a fast car.

Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback

Lancer Prototype-S is going to be delivered with a four-cylinder 4B11 engine that delivers 240 bhp (and 343 Nm), has a six-speed Twin Clutch SST automated manual transmission and a 4-wheel drive (4WD) system. Other abbreviations that you may consider interesting are ABS, S-AWC (Super all-wheel Drive Control), ACD (Active Center Differential) and ASC (Active Stability Control).

I’m sure we’ll find out prices of the new Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback as well, when Geneva kicks off.

The New Trabant Could be the Real Deal

New Trabant Miniature

It doesn’t matter how much fun you make of an old Trabant, because there will still be people in the world to love those innovative looks (innovative for those years). For all Trabi-lovers there is hope for a new model, because Harpa, a German manufacturer for miniature cars, presented in September 2007 what could be the next Trabant. These days they announced partnership with IndiKar a Saxony-based car parts manufacturer and “want to pursue the goal to present a modern Trabant successor as original-sized prototype at the IAA 2009.”

I loved it when I first saw it. Did you have any experiences with a Trabant? Want to share?

First "2009 BMW X6" pictures

2009 BMW X6 xDrive35i

If you remember the BMW X6 model I told you some time ago, then it’s time to see it in flash. Apparently a guy living in the Upstate are of South Carolina, where is the BMW Manufacturing, managed to spy (probably the first) production version, a black xDrive35i model. The car is supposed to be a tester, and was taken back home by a BMW manager.

Here is what the guy had to say about it:

From a distance the car appears to be smaller, almost sedan sized, until you get close to the car.I’m about 5’10” tall and the top of the X6′s rear hatch hits me about mid chest. Then you realize this is a fairly large car and related to the X5.This car looks much, much better in person. The photos just don’t do it justice. The car has an awesome street stance and presence.
