New Golf 6
A UK publication namely Auto Express claims that they have obtained an exclusive preview of the new VW Golf 6 which plans to launch sometime next year. From the picture it can be seen that the design is slightly different to previous other artist impressions that was circulating in the press before.

I agree with James, since the launch of the VW Golf 5 the reviews was “it’s nice, but it’s too boring” and they always reverted back to the comparison to the Opel Astra which had a major design change.
I for one is hoping to see something really hot from the VW stable… and although this pic is okay… it’s not very competitive.

i own a modified one, if the car has 120 000 km on the clock your water pump will go it a GIVEN.will cost u about R4000 to replace it as the cam belt and tensioners need to be replaced similtaneously.
other than that the electric window mechanisms break every 2.5 yrs at the cost of R600 excl labour.
i’m still enjoying mine, mods are also freely available for this car as well as spares.
if u buy it, enjoy it

I still think the Golf 4 is the best Golf ever made. I owned a G4 and currently drvng G5. G4 IR the best car ever in term os looks, but G5 better handling. The Golf 6 is just another Jetta 5 in the front and Auris at the back..dont really like it…

by the way i own a golf 3 and for me this is the best model that vw produced,it is not a question of pocket since my car is a lot more expensive than a brand new golf 5….
used to have a 110 hp engine but it’s over 250 hp’s now….
the 2nd best is golf 4,stability and very solid….

I also see the Golf6 as a golf5 1.6 standard that has only just face lifted.I’m a golf5(GTI) fan,I thought that the upcoming golf 6(GTI) will be a killer car,but I’m dissapointed.Vw should do something about this.

l think that it has got the looks but what bothers me is that it has been introduced at a time where people are starting to adore the gti and r32 of the golf 5 but anyway we are expecting more than what we know and what is obvius but in overall golf has never lost its tsste due to its looks it has always been sexy

as a new buyer of the Golf 5, i’m confused with the new G6.What are you telling the other buyers on the new G6,you beter wait atlist 3.5years before bringing G7 for prices and instalment diffecrences.I like my G5 for 3.5years Before changing it.Your car are the best in the market so don’t rush for suprises.

I drive a G5 GTi and I think its the best golf VW has ever built, and looking at the G6 pics i’m nt impressed

As Golf enthusiasts, you should know the reason for G6. G5 is over engineerd, takes too long to manufacture and VW’s profit margin is too low. If you want the best built Golf ever, buy G5 NOW!! Rear suspension is the main culprit.

I’m a big audi fan,currently owning a sportsback and I strongly think G6 rocks. It is gonna boom with time. Anyway, change is usually criticised initially but later accepted. Good work VW

This is a big mistake the new Golf 6 looks nothing like the one pictured on this page. The new G6 has headlights that are in line with the new Polo and Jetta. This is definitely the G5. You can check out the new G6 if you follow this URL http://www.germancarblog.com/2006/03/vw-golf-vi-even-more-pics.html. Having made that correction I would like to say I have never shared the SA hype w.r.t the VW family moreso the Golf. Stylistically the whole stable is generally mediocre offering nothing that really stirs the senses. Even the much acclaimed Touareg is nothing more than a giant Golf. I agree with the person who said they need to be more daring in their designs, the kind of stuff we have seen coming from Mazda. I know you can’t compare the two but my point is Mazda has come a long way with two models in the SA car of the year finals and the new CX-9 being voted best SUV in the US am sure they will soon zoom – zoom past VW very soon. And yes I would go for the A3, Ford Focus ST over the G-whatever any day.

I have to say that I like that car! Visited a local car dealer and had a test run with it. Very nice feeling driving that thing! Vader says, it´s a piece of crap, but have you ever thought about the design of the New Beetle? Man, THIS is a crappy design!

VW has already started with reduction in production costs by removing the comfort features from South Africa’s most popular car’s; the Polo & Polo Classic. First to go was the bonnet lifter, then the front passenger seat with height adjustment and under seat drawer was replaced with the seat found in the Polo Trendline. Also the rear brake discs was replaced with drums and now the heating function of the mirrors is also no more exept on the Polo GTI.
The price of the Polo has gone up too so we pay more for less!

I agree with most people, this car (the G6) is not good looking! It really should’ve been a G5 facelift model or something. I have owned four vw’s, currently driving a G5 gti and i must say it is the best car vw have produced. I have driven all the previous gti’s including the vr6 and they don’t come close to the G5 with regards to performance, comfort, handling and looks. The second best vw ever made is the mk1 gti!

A lot of u`s knows nothing about cars from what I read,…Same comments when Golf 3 was intro, same commemts for G4 for and pretty much was same for G5.. We hated the 1.6 golf 4, the 1.6 Golf 5 and now what looks like the 1.6 Golf 6 and we start swearing??? The GTi will be out and we will all love it..
For those of you who bought the Gti5 recently, tough shit, Some of us are tired after 3.5 years on the current GTI.. We want better.

Guys, this pic above isnt for the new GTI. check out its live vids on youtube. its completely diff than this pic, and much more agressive. as far as i’m concerned, it way better looking and much much more agressive than the old GTI, even the Golf V R32.

I love Golf 5, owned 2 TDi’s. Now driving BMW 120d. Next car definitely Golf 5 GTi! Golf 6 – well bring it on, let’s see. Price will be a huge factor..!?

Hi all! i have read all the commend of the VW generation V and the new coming VW generation VI. All Pro and Con put aside…….it is really confusing. I have test driven 3 VW Generation V model today; starting from Edition 1.6,Edition 1.9 TDI and Pacific 2.0L all automatic gear. The Edition 1.6 was a real disappointment. No power at all and the gear box was trying hard to change gear to drag the weight of Four Big Aussie boys in that Car. So A BIG NO NO for Edition 1.6 for anyone looking to take their mates all into a car for the beach…(at one point, I was even wonder if i could take them up the small hill down my suburban).
i was then introduce to the 2.0L Pacific base model. It was lot powerful than the Edition 1.6L but the gear box still dragging hard to pick up speed to take over a Grand mum corolla in a quiet suburban in Sydney (remember i have 4 big aussie boys as passenger). I was test driven a Mazda 3 earlier and i think the Mazda 3 fair better that this 2.0L VW for $6K cheaper.
Because i have a budget of 30K to spend on a new car and dealer insist on 32K for that VW 2.0L generation 5, I was offer to test driven a 1.9 TDI VW Golf V.
Upon getting into the car, i was very pessimistic if the car can perform any better than the previous 2. First thing i notice is the Engine Noise. Lot noisy than the previous 2. However, once i got into the car, I heard nothing. Very quiet instead! So i started driving the car around a Sydney suburban and i really hitting the escalator hard, the gear box/cluth change was really smooth. Not as much dragging as of the 2 previous version.
I am so convinced that this is the car that is right for me. However, after reading so much negative issue of commend on the generation V and VW admitted of the unrealiability of the generation V. I am so indecisive.
Can anyone of you help me to decide if the generation V is better than the VI please. thank

There is nothing i say more about the Golf 6 as i was expecting more from VW team. I think the management of VW needs our assistant and idea on how to design, anyway i not that impressed. Look good, but average. If you can look at the new coming Mazda 3 there is no doubt you will love the Car.

The VW has not gone wrong ever.Buyers were still enjoying Golf V.As long as it looks good customers will fall for it.It is good and attractive.

Golf 5 GTI and the R32 are the best cars ever produced by VW ,on the point of producing a new bettle i second it and i won’t say anything abt a new Golf 6

I own and enjoy my Golf5 in South Africa. I was looking forward to the Golf6. It has been a major disappointment, I wont even consider it as an option. After looking at the vw.com site it looks like VW renamed the Golf5 to Rabbit and them created a Golf6 with a cheap look for South Africa. It no longer represents what it used to. To me it has simply become a Megane, Peugot 206.

Aadila – get rid of it asap water pump problems are common and never go away unless you get a decent Vw Mechanic to sort it out, water pump problems come about due to the residue build up in the radiator water – regular water treatment is necessary with VW additive i know its 2 bottles of VW radiator additive to water- additive in first then water- please Aadila if u are going to keep the car then buy a gunuine pump from agents or else it may cost you arms and legs on repair on an overheated engine and what else who knows. VW has not perfected their cars visit their workshops and see the R500 000 cars lying with warranty issues i am not saying they make a bad product but their products are not perfect yet- the best VW was is and will always be a beetle old models

I have seen Golf6. It was my intention to buy it at the end of this year, but it seems my first car will always be my best car of all time “Golf5 GTI”. It is the most beautiful car I have ever seen. Golf6, come on guys try again, I will wait for Golf7 while busy driving that road lover. I know you are entitlied to your opinion but I think you are out of order if you are talking about the predecessors of MK5.

Okay, I have seen the number 6 and…I was greatly dissapointed. It looks more like Golf V facelift. To tell you the truth, when I become an old geyser, I probably wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.

Hi guyz, ive owned every GTI from one to four.
Ive just received my G5 R32 4 months ago and believe me,u have to
drive one to appreciate that power and 4 wheel drive traction.
The G6 is not too bad looking but you got to admit that with looks must
come the action and the new GTI doesnt stand a chance against the R32.

After reviewing the golf6 i would have to agree that the golf5 just does it for me. I don’t thing V.W wasted their time, but the golf6 just does not WOW me like get golf5 does.

But Golf 6 GTi is the best car ever, got alot more balls then

Very dissapointed, I was thinking of buying the GTI 6, and I am now confused, now considering buying the Audi A4. the front is ugly. You should have left it with the GTI V front and only add the Audi type front lights. It was going to be a boom!

Got my 2010 model Golf VI Highline TSI 160 with fixed sport chassis and R18 225/40 wheels this summer and so far this car is the best I’ve ever had. I had prevously Golf V GT with 170ps and I must say that the present one if far better. The GT was noisier and had a tendency to overheat with resulting reduced power. I think the radiator was too small and air ducting inferior. The new Golf VI TSI 160 has a much bigger radiator with two big fans and much better air ducting. The turning radius is also improved. Handling is also better than the GT. In all a fantastic car and a pleasure and joy to drive.
