What an interesting week we have had here at the Road magazine HQ! All the seriously early mornings are starting to catch up on us tho!
Last week ended off with a visit to Kai from FK Lighting. Kai was, as usual very helpful, and eager to help us. He took us through their premises in Midrand and showed us some of their latest products. One of their additions happened to be the new angel eyes for VW Golf MK1. Kai passed us a pair for RP1 along with some crystal rear tail lights as well as some MK3 Golf front spotlights.

The same day we went past George and Garth from Livin’ Loud Audio to pick up the sound equipment for RP1. Livin’ Loud Audio sponsored us a pair of Kicker 2 x8 inch Sub Woofers, 2 huge amps (A 4 channel and a 2 channel), Rear splits and finally two sets of splits for the front!

Everything was shuved in the car and taken through to Jan Steyn for installation. Once Jan and I went through all the products we discussed time schedule as well as what was next on the list of things to get hold of…

In the last update we mentioned that the next step was the dashboard and the carpet, this was all held back a week because on Tuesday Stuart Johnston and the guys from Car Torque met us for breakfast in Pretoria, where afterwards we met up with Jan, and then proceeded to film RP1. (Keep an eye on these pages for when the program will be broadcast)

For the shoot some of our sponsors attended such as George from Livin’ Loud Audio / Toptone who was there to tell us about the Kicker products and the Dynamat that was fitted to the car. Matt from Evo RaceSport Engineering www.evore.co.za also popped into to give the crew a brief on the braking system he was fitting to the car! Trust me, when you push brakes in RP1 and you are not careful it might just remove all your freckles!

I can safely say that we have just about everything for the interior of the vehicle, we are now assembling all the various parts and are preparing RP1 for its debut at Auto Africa 06…

What size are those spots? Would love to build them into my Golf IV GTi front bumper air intakes. Where can I enquire about them?
